Scouting report

NO QB Jameis Winston - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Seahawks

Jameis Winston had an extra week to enjoy his four-touchdown game against Washington in Week 5 and an extra week to prepare for the Seattle defense that has taken a tumble of late (22nd in Defense DVOA). Seattle does tend to play well at home in primetime so we'll see if Seattle's defense can step up against Winston. He's a solid QB2 for this week with so many top QBs on a bye. He's a fine option if you need to replace Justin Herbert or Dak Prescott this week.

NO QB Jameis Winston - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Giants

Three games, three lines of around 13 completions and about 21 attempts, and between 100-150 yards passing. He did throw two touchdown passes against the Patriots. But as long as Taysom Hill is around, Winston will be limited. Hill had six carries and a touchdown against the Patriots, another example of Winston's ceiling being limited and being no more than a low QB2 in fantasy as of now.

NO QB Jameis Winston - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Patriots

So was Week 1 a fluke or is the Panthers' defense that good? Probably a mix of both. Carolina held Winston to just 111 passing yards, Winston's second straight week with less than 150 passing yards. And now he gets a Patriots defense that recorded four interceptions of Zach Wilson in Week 2. New England's defense looks improved. All that plays into Winston barely cracking our top 30 QBs this week, so you likely have better options for Week 3.

NO QB Jameis Winston - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Panthers

Guess that LASIK surgery has helped big time. That was quite the start to Winston's season against the Packers, throwing five touchdowns on just 20 passes. The crazy thing is he didn't even total 200 yards. But he didn't need to with how sharp the Saints looked in Week 1. Now he gets the Panthers, who look to have a much better defense. The last time Winston faced the Panthers was in 2019. He threw for 400 yards and a touchdown but was picked off five times in London. He's a solid QB2 this week in Carolina.

NO QB Jameis Winston - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Packers

It's a new era of Saints football. For the first time since 2005, someone other than Drew Brees will be under center in Week 1 for the Saints, and that man is Jameis Winston. He beat out Taysom Hill in the preseason to earn the job. But knowing how the Saints operate, Hill will still be involved in the offense, especially in the red zone. The Saints are also without Michael Thomas for the foreseeable future and have to face the Packers and their tough defense. Winston is a low QB2 for now.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Jameis Winston had another classic game of his last week, finishing with a strong 335 yards, but with just one touchdown and four interceptions. Winston has a chance this week to become the first-ever QB with 30+ touchdowns and 30+ interceptions in the same season, and he's also on pace to become just the seventh QB to throw for 5,000 yards in a season. It's been a weird season, but overall he's put up good numbers for fantasy. We expect that to be the case this week in a favorable matchup against the Falcons who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Winston topped 300 yards while throwing for three touchdowns against Atlanta earlier in the year, so we like him as a QB1 this week.

TB QB Jameis Winston - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Houston Texans

Despite his struggles as a passer, Jameis Winston has excelled as a fantasy quarterback. Last week he became the only QB in NFL history with back-to-back 450+ yard games. Not only is he getting yards, but he's getting scores too, with nine touchdowns over that two-game span. His turnovers can be a problem in certain games, but usually, they're just a small deduction off of a great performance. Look for his success to continue this week in a favorable matchup against the Texans, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. He should be viewed as a strong QB1 play in Week 16.
