Scouting report

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Dallas Cowboys

Jakeem Grant actually saw seven targets last week, tied for the team lead with DeVante Parker. He caught three passes for 22 yards and had one rush attempt for negative four yards. Grant is one of the faster players in the NFL, so it'd be wise for Miami to try to get the ball in his hands, which it appears it's trying to do. But it's just not working. Grant isn't worth fantasy consideration at this point.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Green Bay Packers

The Brock Osweiler experience continues at Lambeau Field, with the Dolphins having an extremely low implied team total of less than 20 points in Week 10. Plus, the Dolphins are basically deploying a WRBC. No Dolphins receiver over the past three games is averaging seven targets per game. Danny Amendola would be the best of a bad bunch of options for PPR leagues, with five receptions in four consecutive games. Jakeem Grant is not an option though for lineups.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Jets

With Albert Wilson on IR and Kenny Stills not practicing Wednesday and Thursday with a groin injury, DeVante Parker and Danny Amendola emerged as the primary options in the Dolphins passing game last week. Grant did see eight targets in a game full of negative game script for Miami, but he only amassed 36 yards. Grant's speed makes him a threat for a home run, but he was kept in check against the Jets earlier this year. All signs point to him being far too risky for lineups in Week 9, even in a juicy match-up. The Jets are just 25th in aFPA to WRs.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Houston Texans (Thursday)

Brocktoberfest rolls on in H-Town without two key members of the Dolphins receiving core - Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson. We've seen an uptick in usage for Danny Amendola in recent weeks but not Jakeem Grant. The targets just are not there for Grant to be trusted.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Detroit Lions

No Dolphins WR is averaging 5.5 targets this season. That's just hard to rely on in re-draft leagues each week. Grant is only averaging 3.5 targets per game. That's nowhere near enough use to consider in lineups.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Chicago Bears

The Dolphins are 31st in the NFL in plays per game and face the Bears strong defense in Week 6 with an implied team total of less than 20 points. It's not as if any Dolphins receiver would be worth playing, even if this was a good match-up. It's impossible to project who will have a good game in a pass-catching core where nobody is averaging five targets per game. That includes Jakeem Grant.

MIA WR Jakeem Grant - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cincinnati Bengals

The Dolphins had the most predictable of blowout losses in Week 4, and Miami has a bottom-seven implied team total in Week 5 of just 21.25 points. Here's the problem for Jakeem Grant and the rest of the Dolphins receivers: this team only has 99 total targets on the season. No receiver is even averaging five targets per game. Hard pass on these options if you're looking for a sleeper WR for Week 5. You know what's worse than a running back by commitee for fantasy? A wide receiver by commitee.
