Scouting report

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens
Diontae Johnson had five receptions for 64 yards last Sunday which has been the norm for him this season. The catches are usually high but the yardage doesn't add up as much.

Johnson faces the Ravens for the second time this season. The first time he had six catches for 82 yards. We don't expect much from the Steelers passing game on the road as they have been conservative to protect rookie QB Kenny Pickett. Keep Johsnon on the bench for Week 17.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Diontae Johnson has had 37 targets to lead the Steelers over the past month. That has produced 26 receptions including 10 last week against Carolina. Johnson has not put up great yardage numbers although he did have 98 last Sunday. He is still looking for his first touchdown of the year as he is the only wide receiver in the NFL with 50+ receptions without a touchdown.

Johnson will face Las Vegas who is ranked 16th in aFPA to wide receivers.Rookie QB Kenny Pickett returns to the lineup so the passing game will be conservative. Johnson is worth a start in full PPR leagues as a low-end WR3 but should remain on the bench in other formats.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Carolina Panthers
Diontae Johnson had six receptions for 82 yards which was his highest receiving yard total since Week 3. A bigger question this week is which quarterback will be throwing to Johnson. He also missed practice Thursday but did last week as well as he is nursing a hip injury. He still played last Sunday.

Johnson faces the Panthers who are ranked 28th in aFPA to wide receivers. He definitely has more value in a PPR league as he still seems to get targets and receptions, but he has not had a 100-yard receiving game this season.

Start Johnson as a WR3 or Flex for Week 15. It's a favorable matchup and it really doesn't matter who the quarterback is as they are pretty average at this point. Make sure you check the actives and Johnson will be on the field.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Diontae Johnson had his first double-digit target game since Week 7. He has been consistent with his catch total as he has had four or five receptions in each of the last eight games. You know what you are getting and it's usually good for PPR managers.

Johnson faces the Ravens who are ranked 4th in aFPA to wide receivers. He had good games last season against Baltimore although the Ravens pass defense is better in 2022.

Start Johnson as a low-end WR3 or Flex in PPR leagues, but keep him on the bench for standard leagues as his yardage totals remain low.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Atlanta Falcons
Over the last seven games, Dionate Johnson has had either four or five receptions per game. No more. No less. So he has been consistent. However, the production has been disappointing overall after signing a big contract in the offseason. Over that stretch, he has only eclipsed the 60 receiving-yard mark once.

Johnson has a great matchup and should have some value in PPR leagues as a WR3 or Flex. But sit him in standard leagues based on his recent numbers.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Indianapolis Colts
It has been a disappointing season so far for Diontae Johnson. His last game, he only caught four passes for 21 yards and the targets have been lower than expected this season. Johnson has become the third option in the passing game after receiving a new contract that signaled he would be the No. 1 receiver.

Johnson faces the Colts who are ranked 2nd in aFPA to wide receivers. With the tough matchup and the fact that Johnson has not performed well this season, keep him on the bench Monday night against Indy.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Diontae Johnson had four receptions for 63 yards, his highest yardage total since Week 3. The problem with Johnson is he is more of a possession receiver than big-play. He will have more value in a PPR league but signs are pointing to rookie George Pickens becoming more of the focus in the passing game, especially downfield.

The Bengals are next for Johnson and the Steelers. In the first meeting, he had seven catches for 55 yards so we can expect something similar this time around. Start Johnson as a low-end WR3 or Flex for Week 11.
