Scouting report

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Seattle
The bye week came at a good time for a 32-year-old running back who had 44 carries in the previous two games. Seattle ranks fourth in the league in points allowed to opposing running backs and allows 3.7 yards per carry, so it will be tough sledding for Williams. But backs who play on teams with potent passing attacks have had some success against the Seahawks - Arizona, Cincinnati, Green Bay - and Williams is going to get 20 or so touches. That should make him at least a solid No. 2 option.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cleveland
Williams did a nice Le'Veon Bell impersonation last week, gaining 170 yards rushing and catching passes for another 50-plus yards on 29 touches. He also scored twice, his second multi-TD game in three starts this season. Both multiple TD games have come at home, as well. Now, he gets Cleveland's run defense, which is dead-last in the league. Williams is dealing with some foot soreness this week, but should be fine for Sunday. Roll him out there and watch the points pile up again. He's a must-start.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Oakland
In the two previous games he started in place of Le'Veon Bell, Williams had an AFC-best 204 yards rushing with three touchdowns. He hasn't gotten a ton of work since Week 2, so he should be relatively fresh. Oakland has allowed just three rushing touchdowns this season and none since Week 2 (though the Raiders have given up 52 running back catches, the second highest total in the league). Williams isn't the receiver out of the backfield that Bell is, but he can still be effective. He's a must-start in all formats.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Baltimore
Williams had just one carry for 2 yards last week in Le'Veon Bell's return. But with Ben Roethlisberger now out for what looks like about 6 weeks, expect the Steelers to lean on their running game a little more. They used Williams and Bell on the field together a couple of times last week and expect that alignment to increase in its use. Williams should get more touches moving forward, though Baltimore's run defense has been good. Williams likely won't get enough touches this week to be a factor, though.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at St. Louis
Williams leads the AFC in rushing after two games and scored three TDs last week. But with Le'Veon Bell back from suspension, D-Will is headed to the bench. He's only going to get a handful of carries and won't be a fantasy factor unless Bell is injured.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. San Francisco
Williams got off to a strong start last week against the Patriots, gaining 127 yards on 21 carries while also adding one catch for five yards. The only issue was he was pulled at the goal line in favor of Will Johnson as the Steelers hoped to limit the big hits on the 32-year-old's body. He'll face a tall task solving the 49ers defense this week. San Francisco held Adrian Peterson to 31 yards on 10 carries Monday night, but the 49ers also didn't have to be as concerned with Minnesota's passing game as they do the Steelers. I wouldn't expect another 132 combined yards out of Williams, but he should produce enough with 20 touches to be a solid No. 2 option.

PIT RB DeAngelo Williams - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New England
Williams should see 80 percent of the Steelers running back touches against the Patriots in place of suspended Le'Veon Bell. In his previous nine seasons, Williams has had just 14 games in which he's gotten 20 carries in a game. In 10 of those games, he's gone over 100 yards rushing. The Steelers would like to make that 11 and 15. He might not make it to 20 carries, but Williams should get 20 total touches and be a solid No. 2 fantasy back in Week 1.
