Scouting report

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Houston Texans

It took seven games for Henderson to not reach double-digit fantasy points in a game. That streak should end at one game with Houston up next. The Texans are 21st in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to opposing running backs, allowing 127 yards on the ground per game. Start Henderson confidently as an RB1.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs Lions

What could have been with Cam Akers has transferred to Henderson. He has 100 total yards or a touchdown in every game this season and faces a Lions defense ranked last in aFPA to opposing running backs. Henderson ranks fourth in 4for4’s running back rankings and anything short of a top 10 performance would be seen as a disappointment.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Giants

Henderson took a step back in snaps played on a short week, but put up 16.4 fantasy points in half-PPR formats. There is no doubt that Henderson is the lead back for the Rams when healthy and unless he suffers a setback with his injured ribs, he will be in the RB2 conversation at worst going forward. Sony Michel can take away red zone touches but it is also clear Michel will get his own series in the traditional sense to give Henderson a breather.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Seahawks

Henderson’s usage coming back from a rib cartilage issue was encouraging and led to a season-high 19 touches. He also flirted with playing 90% of snaps in part to Sony Michel’s fumble. Henderson enters Week 5 as 4for4’s 7th-ranked running back against Seattle’s 28th-ranked run defense according to aFPA. The Seahawks have allowed two 100-yard rushers but only one back to find the endzone (Derrick Henry thrice). The dual-threat back is the unquestioned leader in the Rams backfield and is a lock in fantasy lineups.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Cardinals

After missing Week 3, Darrell Henderson will play Week 4 as long as the rib cartilage injury can be tolerated. Henderson could cede work to Sony Michel. He collected 23 total touches for 79 yards against one of the best front sevens in football. Arizona is 11th in aFPA through three weeks but has allowed back-to-back double-digit fantasy performances to the position. If healthy, Henderson’s mix of run and pass work while attached to one of the best offenses in the NFL will keep him in the RB2 range.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Buccaneers

Darrell Henderson’s rib cartilage injury casts doubt on his availability/workload with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town. The Bucs defense has allowed 47 and 52 rushing yards to opposing running backs through two weeks, a bad situation for a healthy Henderson. What will help Henderson’s fantasy floor is his work in the passing game. The Buccaneers have put opposing offenses in passing situations more often than not, leading to an average of nine catches and 59 yards allowed per game to running backs. Cordarrelle Patterson skews those numbers some but Henderson is the unquestioned pass-catcher out of the backfield.

LAR RB Darrell Henderson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Colts

It was a tale of two halves for Darrell Henderson Week 1, but he still had 87 total yards on 17 touches and a rushing score. Sony Michel was active but only had one carry, a number that should change. It still bodes well for Henderson because he produced against one of the best rushing defenses according to 4for4’s schedule-adjusted defensive rankings (aFPA). The Colts are a top 10 unit in aFPA but allowed 91 yards on the ground to Chris Carson, as well as 26 through the air. The Colts are a much better team than the Bears and should keep the game close and Henderson relevant in all offensive situations.
