Draft Note by John Paulsen
After a TE11 finish in 2023, Dalton Schultz slipped to TE22 last season as his usage dipped slightly—his targets fell from 5.8 to 5.1 per game, and he posted five-year lows in both receptions (53) and receiving yards (532). Still, he remained a steady presence in the Texans' passing game, offering C.J. Stroud a reliable safety valve in the middle of the field. The low touchdown total (2) certainly didn’t help Schultz’s fantasy output, but he’s still a trusted piece of the offense and has a track record of TE1-caliber production. He’s unlikely to post TE1 numbers, especially with Houston’s wide receiver room gaining depth, but he’s a viable streamer or TE2 who could flirt with low-end TE1 value in any given week.
