Scouting report

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

As a rookie last season, Crockett Gilmore got a lot of snaps as a TE2 on the roster, appearing in all but one game and catching 10 balls for 121 yards and a touchdown. Gilmore showed off athleticism and versatility as a 6’6, 270lbs player who can stretch the seam and also go up and get the ball. This year, the Ravens are hoping Gilmore can compete with rookie Maxx Williams to replace the departed Owen Daniels.

Fantasy Upside
Traditionally, the Ravens have always been able to make a starting tight end fantasy relevant. Todd Heap for years, Dennis Pitta when healthy and Owen Daniels last year were all solid fantasy options catching balls from Joe Flacco. Gilmore has elite athleticism and flashed potential his rookie year. If he can win the starting job over Williams, then he could be a nice surprise.

Fantasy Downside
Gilmore is still largely unproven and the Ravens invested a second round pick in Williams, meaning they expect him to contribute immediately. While Gilmore has the experience in the offense and is listed early as the starter, it may be an uphill battle for him to maintain the spot. The Ravens may have him on a short leash because of the draft capital invested in Williams.

Bottom Line
Gilmore could be a nice surprise this season if he can emerge early and hang on to the starting role, but he’s ultimately too risky for most fantasy leagues. Instead of drafting him, go after a guy with a more secure position, and be ready strike on the waiver wire if Gilmore distinguishes himself as a solid starter.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 19, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Divisional Round – Crockett Gilmore vs. New England
Crockett Gilmore showed up last week against Pittsburgh, catching a 21 yard touchdown pass, making his second career touchdown an important one as the Ravens will move on to face New England this week. Gilmore only caught the one pass last week, and only caught 10 passes all season, so it’s unlikely he’ll become a solid fantasy option against the Pats. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 18, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Wildcard Weekend – Crockett Gilmore vs. Pittsburgh
Crockett Gilmore had one catch for 22 yards last week against the Browns and he was targeted twice on the day. Fantasy owners shouldn’t expect much more than that from him and he’s too risky to bank on in any league formats while he sits behind Owen Daniels on the depth chart.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 – Crockett Gilmore vs. Cleveland
Crockett Gilmore had one catch and nine yards last week. He caught the only pass thrown his way, and he should not be considered a valid fantasy option as the backup tight end on a struggling Baltimore offense. Leave him on waivers.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 – Crockett Gilmore vs. Houston
Crockett Gilmore caught two passes for 37 yards last week against Jacksonville, but he remains an afterthought in the Baltimore passing game as the backup tight end and he should not be added to any fantasy rosters.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 – Crockett Gilmore vs. Jacksonville
Crockett Gilmore didn’t catch a pass last week and he remains a secondary option at the tight end position in Baltimore behind Owen Daniels. There’s no reason to expect the athletic rookie to get more looks this week, and fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.

BAL TE Crockett Gillmore - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Crockett Gilmore vs. Miami
Crockett Gilmore didn’t catch a pass last week though he got some snaps. Gilmore is still a rookie, and a work in progress, but has long term talent. There’s no reason to expect that to show up right now however, as he remains second on the depth chart on a team with an inconsistent offense. Leave him on waivers.
