Scouting report

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Blake Bortles had 309 yards and 2 touchdowns last week and has now averaged 265 yards passing in his past five home games, with 9 touchdown passes. Of course, one of those "home" games was in London, where he threw 4 TD passes. So he only has one multi-touchdown game in the U.S. this season. Seattle is banged up in the secondary, but you still have to deal with an aggressive front that doesn't allow for much passing time. Bortles should not be someone you count on this week.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Blake Bortles threw for just 160 yards last week and failed to throw a TD pass. He did have 62 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns to make it a decent game, but you certainly can't count on that each week. He threw for 330 yards and a touchdown against Indianapolis earlier this season but going with Bortles is certainly a roll of the dice. He's just too inconsistent.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Arizona Cardinals

After a decent stretch of games, Blake Bortles remembered that he's, you know, Blake Bortles last week in Cleveland and threw for 154 yards and a touchdown with a fumble. And he didn't provide anything in the running game, picking up just 4 yards. The Jaguars just aren't going to let him throw unless completely necessary and that probably won't be the case in Arizona. Bortles should not be in your lineup.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Cleveland Browns

Blake Bortles threw for 273 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions last week, scrambling for another 34 yards on 5 attempts. He's now had at least 241 passing yards and a touchdown pass in each of the past four games, but it's been one TD per game. The Jaguars just don't want him throwing the ball a lot unless they have to. Cleveland's run defense is solid but the Browns will give up some yards through the air. But their offense won't test the Jags and, thus, Bortles shouldn't throw a lot in this game.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Blake Bortles threw for 259 yards and a touchdown last week, adding 20 yards on 5 rushing attempts, without Leonard Fournette in the lineup. The yardage total was his second-highest of the season, while the passing touchdown marked the seventh time this season he has thrown for one or fewer scores. The Chargers have allowed multiple TD passes just three times this season, so don't expect a lot out of Bortles. He shouldn't be in your lineup.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Blake Bortles had his second big game of the season the last time out, throwing for 330 yards and a touchdown two weeks ago against Indianapolis. But that was against Indianapolis. The Cincinnati defense will present a much bigger challenge. And the Jaguars want to run the ball, anyway. Even with six teams on a bye, Bortles shouldn't be in your lineup.

JAX QB Blake Bortles - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Indianapolis Colts

The Jaguars got behind last week and Bortles was forced to throw. He ended up with 241 yards and 1 touchdown. He also threw an interception and scrambled twice for 19 yards. But that's about the most you can hope for from Bortles, even against an Indianapolis defense that has allowed at least 295 passing yards in 5-of-6 games. The Jaguars just don't want Bortles throwing the ball a lot and neither should you for your fantasy team.
