Scouting report

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Billy Cundiff vs. Oakland Raiders
Billy Cundiff drilled a pair of field goals during Cleveland’s embarrassing loss to Jacksonville last weekend. With Cleveland’s offensive renaissance apparently over, he has fallen in the rankings and can be dropped from your roster in favor of a superior selection.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Billy Cundiff at Jacksonville Jaguars

We all know Billy Cundiff is not the most accurate kicker in the world and still conjures up bad memories in cities such as Baltimore. However, a kicker in a good situation is a valuable fantasy commodity, and Cundiff is part of a Browns squad that appears to be on the rise. Cleveland scored 31 points on Sunday, with Cundiff producing a field goal and four extra points, and the Browns have an incredibly favorable schedule over the next three weeks. If you need to plug a kicker into your lineup, Billy can give your team a boost.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Billy Cundiff vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland’s offensive growth is moving Billy Cundiff up the rankings. Usually at the bottom, Cundiff, who drilled a pair of field goals and three extra points last Sunday, has migrated to the middle. With Cleveland having a very favorable schedule (Jacksonville, Oakland, and Tampa Bay) after playing the Steelers, Cundiff might be worth picking up if your regular kicker has a bye during that period. Right now, he should not be started.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Billy Cundiff at Tennessee Titans
Billy Cundiff was a hero in week two, when his last-second field goal gave Cleveland a victory over the New Orleans Saints. But in week three, the last game the Browns played before their bye, Cundiff was back to being “Big Miss Billy” as he missed two attempts. The misfires proved costly as Baltimore beat Cleveland 23-21. In fairness to Cundiff, one of the misses was blocked. Although Cleveland will be entering the softest part of their schedule, Cundiff should not be added to your roster.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Billy Cundiff vs. Baltimore Ravens
When you think of clutch kickers, Billy Cundiff does not come to mind. But last Sunday in Cleveland, he nailed a game-winning 29-yard field goal to enable the Browns to shock the New Orleans Saints. He also contributed another field goal and a pair of extra points. Although Cundiff has been more productive than expected in the early stages of the season, Cleveland’s offense has not developed enough to move Cundiff into fantasy starter territory.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Billy Cundiff vs. New Orleans Saints
Billy Cundiff was busier than expected on opening day, kicking a pair of field goals and three extra points as the Browns incredibly put 27 points on the board against the Steelers. Could Cleveland’s offense be less dismal than anticipated? Maybe, but they are going to have to produce over several games before Cundiff will be worth a waiver claim.

CLE K Billy Cundiff - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Billy Cundiff at Pittsburgh Steelers
Heading into his second season as Cleveland’s kicker, Billy Cundiff’s chances of climbing up the fantasy charts depend on the Browns somehow showing growth on offense. With the odds stacked against that happening, at least for awhile, Cundiff is not going to help anyone claim a victory on the opening week of the fantasy season.
