BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Bernard Pierce vs. New Orleans
Bernard Pierce had eight carries against the Titans in Week 10, and wound up with 31 yards on the ground. The Ravens seem to be riding the hot hand between Pierce and rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro for change of pace carries behind starter Justin Forsett. Forsett should continue to get the bulk of the touches though, limiting Pierce’s value even in games where he’s the preferred backup over the rookie. Pierce is safe to leave on waivers.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Bernard Pierce vs. Tennessee
Bernard Pierce didn’t get any work last week against the Steelers, as he took a backseat to rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro once again. Pierce continues to occasionally get work, so he isn’t completely irrelevant, but Taliaferro has looked better, and neither Pierce nor Taliaferro is giving any kind of challenge to starter Justin Forsett. Until he starts getting consistent touches, leave Pierce on waivers.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Bernard Pierce vs. Pittsburgh

Bernard Pierce was surprisingly inactive on Sunday against the Bengals, despite being seemingly healthy and ready to go. The Ravens instead leaned on Justin Forsett and rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro on the day, which is concerning for fantasy owners who were thinking Pierce was working his way back into the offense.

This week, Pierce is going against a Pittsburgh defense that has struggled against the run through most of the season, but it’s hard to trust him after a healthy scratch against the Bengals. It’s hard to drop him, but fantasy owners definitely shouldn’t have him in the lineup until he strings together some consistent outings.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Bernard Pierce vs. Cincinnati

Bernard Pierce had a touchdown against the Falcons last week, but had only eight carries and averaged a measly 2.6 yards per carry on the game. He seems to have locked up the RB2 job behind Justin Forsett, despite challenges from rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro, which gives him some fantasy value back after looking droppable early in the season.

This week, Pierce faces a Bengals defense that has looked rough lately, and is giving up more yards per rushing attempt than all but three teams in the league this season. Still, eight touches seems the likely workload for him again, limiting his fantasy value to desperation RB3 territory at best.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Bernard Pierce vs. Atlanta

Bernard Pierce got back into the mix last week with 15 carries against the Bucs, but he only managed 2.1 yards per carry, continuing to exhibit a lack of explosiveness or elusiveness. Pierce continues to split carries with the more dynamic Justin Forsett, and rookie banger Lorenzo Taliaferro is still lurking in the background.

This week, Pierce will face an Atlanta defense that that is allowing over 140 yards per game on the ground, and if he gets the same workload he did last week, he should improve on the 32 yards against the Bucs. Pierce is still a dangerous start however, outside of a desperation flex play, because he’s clearly taken a backseat to Forsett, and the Ravens won’t hesitate to use the hot hand should Pierce struggle.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Bernard Pierce vs. Tampa Bay

Bernard Pierce had four carries against the Colts last week and gained 30 yards as the Ravens threw the ball 38 times to try and keep up with the Colts high flying offense. Pierce was removed from the game on passing downs and he is in a three-way split for touches in the Ravens backfield with Justin Forsett and rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro.

While Pierce could still emerge as the lead back in Baltimore, it doesn’t seem likely and he’s too risky to have in your lineup at this time. Leave him on the bench against Tampa Bay.

BAL RB Bernard Pierce - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Bernard Pierce vs. Indianapolis

Bernard Pierce did nothing last week and word is that he was still a bit hobbled. He needs to get on the field and make a statement or his job is going to be gone to rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro, who continues to look impressive in limited action.

Pierce faces the Colts this week, but as the least impressive looking part of a three-headed backfield, it’s hard to trust Pierce in your lineup. He’s borderline droppable until he shows he can get a hold on the job.
