Scouting report

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14: Cunningham vs. Redskins
Benny Cunningham rushed twice for just three yards in the Rams’ 52-0 win over the Raiders in Week 13. Cunningham only got a few morsels as Tre Mason turned in the best performance of his young career and Zac Stacy saw the second-most carries with six. With Mason now entrenched as the featured back, Cunningham is merely a change-of-pace option and thus holds limited fantasy value.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13: Cunningham vs. Raiders
Benny Cunningham rushed four times for 18 yards and also caught two passes for 11 yards in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Chargers. Cunningham replaced Tre Mason on the team's final drive in a four-point game but we wouldn't put too much stock into that development. Mason is still the St. Louis RB to own in fantasy leagues and Cunningham will continue to be limited to a COP role. Feel free to handcuff Mason with Cunningham if you have room but the latter has little to no fantasy value.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Cunningham vs. Chargers
Benny Cunningham rushed twice for seven yards and also added four catches for an addition 31 yards in the Rams’ Week 11 stunner over the Broncos. With Tre Mason clearly taking over as the No. 1 back in St. Louis, Cunningham will continue to serve as the primary passing down back in Brian Schottenheimer’s offense. He’s merely a handcuff for Mason and isn’t a reliable fantasy option in any format. He ranks as our No. 47 overall RB for Week 12.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11: Cunningham vs. Broncos
Benny Cunningham rushed four times for 12 yards and a touchdown while also adding two catches for 16 yards on four targets in the Rams’ Week 10 loss to the Cardinals. Cunningham remains the clear RB2 in St. Louis but it’s noteworthy that he received the lone goal line carry in last week’s game. He hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown since Week 6, however, so we wouldn't expect him vulture the [possible] touchdowns. Unless there’s an injury to Mason, Cunningham won’t hold much fantasy value. Avoid him in Week 11.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10: Cunningham vs. Cardinals
Benny Cunningham rushed four times for 10 yards while also catching 3-of-3 targets for 38 yards in the Rams’ Week 9 upset of the 49ers. Tre Mason made his first start of his career but Cunningham continues to be the top COP back in St. Louis. Unfortunately, the Rams don’t use him enough for him to hold much fantasy value. He ranks as our No. 37 overall RB for Week 10 and is not a starting option.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9: Cunningham vs. 49ers
Benny Cunningham carried the ball four times for 27 yards and also caught his lone target for 8 yards in the Rams’ Week 8 loss to the Chiefs. Cunningham actually started the game, although not that that means much in St. Louis. Despite Tre Mason’s effectiveness in a win over the Seahawks two weeks ago, the coaching staff in St. Louis insists on using all three backs in a committee with no clear leader in the trio. Mason and Cunningham have shown more explosiveness than Zac Stacy, but none of the backs have been featured for more than a week. It’s a maddening situation for fantasy owners. Cunningham currently ranks as our No. 42 overall RB for Week 9 and should remain on your waiver wire/bench.

STL RB Benny Cunningham - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8: Cunningham vs. Chiefs
Benny Cunningham rushed twice for three yards and also added five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Rams’ Week 7 win over the Seahawks. The touchdown catch came on a perfectly executed shovel pass near the goal line in the second quarter and one of his receptions came on a fake punt late in the fourth. While he technically started the game for St. Louis, rookie Tre Mason carried the ball a team-high 18 times for 85 yards, which was by far the most carries of any Rams’ RB. Mason is the back to own in fantasy leagues but Cunningham has clearly passed Zac Stacy on the depth chart, so stashing him for injury purposes might not be a bad idea. He ranks as our 51st overall RB for Week 8 against the Chiefs.
