DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Green Bay Packers
Starting in place of the rookie D’Andre Swift, Adrian Peterson has posted back-to-back solid outings. In the win over the Bears last week he rushed for 57 yards and two scores, bringing his total to four over the past two contests. Peterson ran for 41 yards in the loss to the Packers earlier this year, but Swift likely will return on Sunday, which would cut into his carries. The veteran is a risky fantasy option this week.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Chicago Bears
With D’Andre Swift out due to a concussion on Thanksgiving Day, Adrian Peterson plowed for two short touchdowns. In the defeat he posted his best stats in two months, carrying 15 times for 55 yards and doubling his TD total for the season. Peterson rushed for 93 yards in the opening week loss to Chicago and will likely be the Lions leading ball carrier on Sunday even if Swift returns, as interim head coach Darrell Bevell said it'll be in a limited capacity.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Houston Texans
Even without D’Andre Swift to garner carries at Carolina last week, Adrian Peterson was held to seven rushes for 18 yards, sharing the backfield with Kerryon Johnson. In the shutout loss, the entire Detroit offense couldn’t get things going all day, totaling less than 200 yards. Swift should return from the concussion protocol on Thursday, which relegates Peterson to second string. Be sure to monitor the injury report though, as the veteran could make for a sneaky start against Houston’s terrible run defense.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina Panthers
In the home win versus Washington last week, Adrian Peterson carried only four times for 21 yards, while D’Andre Swift finished with 21 touches for 149 total yards. In the past six games, Peterson has averaged just 27 rushing yards and hasn’t scored since Week 6. It looked like the veteran would be playing second fiddle to the rookie for the rest of the season, but Swift needs to clear the concussion protocol in order to play this week. Peterson could be a sneaky start against the Panthers average run defense.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Washington
Facing his former team, Adrian Peterson was bottled up by the Vikings defense last week. He carried eight times for 29 yards and appears to be losing touches to rookie D’Andre Swift as the Lions continue to fall out of playoff contention. Detroit has been behind by multiple scores in each of the past couple games, leading to Peterson totaling just 13 rushes. While he’ll be going against another one of his previous teams on Sunday, Peterson doesn’t make for a good fantasy option.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Minnesota Vikings
With the Lions falling behind the Colts last week, the rushing attack became an afterthought. Adrian Peterson carried five times but for just seven yards, as neither he nor D’Andre Swift was able to generate anything on the ground. The duo will continue to share the backfield touches but has a better matchup on Sunday against Peterson’s former team. Consider him an RB3/flex option as Minnesota’s defense has been average at stopping the run.

DET RB Adrian Peterson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Indianapolis Colts
In the miraculous win at Atlanta last Sunday, Adrian Peterson led the Lions with 11 carries but for just 29 yards. Rookie D’Andre Swift had a similar line with nine attempts for 27 yards but recorded the team’s lone TD on the ground. While he’s found the end zone twice the past three outings Peterson is averaging just 41 total yards during that period. Moving forward expect Swift to share touches with the veteran which will definitely affect his fantasy status. Peterson makes for an RB3/flex option versus a good Colts defense.
