Scouting report

BUF RB Damien Harris - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Damien Harris only had three touches in the opener and more alarming only played 19% of the offensive snaps. Latavius Murray actually was on the field more which is puzzling considering many thought Harris was the true No. 2 behind James Cook. Part of the reason for lack of field time might have been situational, but it something to keep an eye on.

Harris should remain on the bench for Week 2. Even with a favorable matchup, we will need to see more snaps and touches closer to 10 to have Harris where many thought he would be fantasy-wise.

BUF RB Damien Harris - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New York Jets
Damien Harris was brought in to spell James Cook and also take some short-yardage situations. He has averaged 4.7 yards per carry during his career and now will be a part of the Buffalo running attack.

The Bills face a tough defense against the Jets, but Harris is used to this rivalry having played in New England. He should get somewhere between 7-10 touches and his real value is touchdowns. With that said, he should be on the bench for Week 1.

BUF RB Damien Harris - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Damien Harris signed a one-year contract to replace Devin Singletary. The former Patriot has put up good numbers when he has been healthy and expect him to be used in tandem with James Cook. The Bills brought him in because they were looking for more size and power to counter what Cook brings to the table. Harris should be the Buffalo red zone back which means touchdowns could be a big factor for his fantasy success. He did have success in New England in that role.

Fantasy Downside
Injuries were a major factor for Harris last year and a concern heading into 2023. Also, the running back touches will be shared three ways so the amount of production could be limited. Quantity will be a factor more than quality of work for Harris.

2023 Bottom Line
Harris does have some fantasy value as an RB3 or Flex this season. He actually might be the best Bills running back option in standard leagues, but Cook trumps him in PPR formats. Harris is a good pickup in the 12th round of your draft as the third or preferably fourth running back on your roster.

NE RB Damien Harris - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Las Vegas Raiders

Damien Harris returned to practice this week but reportedly doesn't look close to 100 percent. Keep an eye on his status this week, as well as that of Rhamondre Stevenson. The emergence of Pierre Strong also throws a wrench into the mix. It's a good matchup against the Raiders and if Harris can go, he would likely be in the lead if Stevenson is out. Check New England's injury report Friday for more clarity.

NE RB Damien Harris - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Minnesota Vikings

Damien Harris is playing second-fiddle to Rhamondre Stevenson nowadays. On a short week against the Vikings and with no team on a bye this week, Harris isn’t much of a fantasy option.

NE RB Damien Harris - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New York Jets

Damien Harris missed Week 9 against the Colts with an illness. He likely returns this week against the Jets, but he is the clear No. 2 now to Rhamondre Stevenson. In Week 8 against the Jets, Harris totaled 52 yards on 13 touches. But he has conceded passing-game work to Stevenson, relegating Harris to borderline flex play, at best.

NE RB Damien Harris - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Damien Harris saw double-digit carries for the first time since Week 4 and had 13 total touches against the Jets. The Patriots will continue to establish the run, so Harris is getting back some fantasy value and is worth a look as a flex against the Colts, but he has taken a backseat to Rhamondre Stevenson, so temper expectations on Harris going forward.
