FanDuel Week 1 Cash Game Breakdown
The 2016 NFL season is upon us. Which means NFL DFS is upon us. Which means me saying (affirming?) “let’s get this #shmoney” on the DFS MVP podcast every week is upon us.
Let’s get straight to said shmoney. To optimize shmoney-getting procedures, I have created a set of FanDuel cash game guidelines for 4for4 DFS subscribers. I'll usually review those before I make my cash game picks, and also before I write this article every week.
Now let’s get to it.
With FanDuel jumping the gun and releasing Week 1 pricing over a month ago, there is value abound.
Ultimately, I settled on a group of players that allows me to create a lineup that contains:
- 2 top-4 projected RBs
- 2 top-5 projected WRs
- the No. 2 projected TE
- the No. 1 projected kicker
- the No. 1 projected D/ST
I did so by taking advantage of the slate’s top projected value by a mile, as well as a WR that I believe is criminally undervalued.
QB Dak Prescott $5,000 vs. NYG
This is purely a price exploitation play. Despite our projections having him down for the least passing yards of any QB on the slate, Prescott comes in as the slate’s top $/point value by a whopping 15% over the next closest player. You’re generally looking for a QB on FanDuel to hit 2.5x value, so Prescott needs only 12.5 points to pay off his cost. Even if he doesn’t, his price unlocks so much value elsewhere that it probably won’t matter. I’m not expecting huge upside here, as Dallas will surely implement a run-heavy game plan (they drafted Ezekiel Elliott "to help the defense", after all), but working in Prescott’s favor is his rushing ability (he is of only five QBs we have projected to rush for at least 25 yards), his stout offensive line, one of the league’s best WRs, and a running game the Giants will have to account for.
