2023 Fantasy Football Fades

1. Travis Kelce, Chiefs

I expect Travis Kelce to out-score every player at his position. Whether he separates himself enough to justify a top-five pick (outside of TE-Premium formats) is what we're trying to unravel.

Only three tight ends have averaged 15 points since 2015 (including Kelce's 15.4 points per game last year), and only nine since 2008. That calendar year is important since it was also the last time the TE2-TE12, which averaged 8.9 points in 2022, averaged fewer than 9.0 points per game.

In other words, Kelce's stranglehold atop his position and those behind him were historically out of whack. If he were to perform normally this year, the real winners would be those who avoided him for the next tier of tight ends.
