DraftKings Week 10 Cash Game Breakdown
In his book, The Success Equation, Michael Mauboussin delves into how skill and luck are related in endeavors such as investing and sports and explains why we as humans are especially poor at separating the two.
Even if we know that an event combines skill and luck, we have a tendency to look at an outcome and form a narrative that makes us believe that the result was actually the only possibility. This is obviously a bad way to review an activity like DFS -- there is always a range of outcomes, usually a range that is quite wide.
Furthermore, Mauboussin suggests that “when luck plays a part in determining the consequences of your actions, you don’t want to study success to learn what strategy was used but rather study strategy to see whether it consistently led to success.”
All this is basically a reminder to trust process over results. One of the easiest ways to ensure a reliable process is to have a checklist of steps that have proven, long-lasting reliability -- our set of DraftKings cash game guidelines does just that.
As always, be sure to take a look at the “Other Players I’d Consider” section, as you should never be blindly placing a single lineup into any contest.
QB Jay Cutler $5,300 @ TB
Priced as the 20th quarterback on the main slate, Cutler will retain his status as the starter against a Tampa Bay defense that ranks 26th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. The Buccaneers have allowed a 300-yard passer in half of their games this year. Over the last six weeks, quarterbacks have posted a 5.9% touchdown rate through the air against Tampa Bay, the sixth-highest rate during that time span. Chicago also has the second-highest relative implied point total on the main slate, a total more than five points over their seasonal PPG average.
