Week 6 vs. Detroit Lions
In his first five games with Jacksonville, Tyler Eifert has caught only 11 passes for 93 yards. In the loss to the Texans last Sunday, he was targeted a season-most seven times, as Gardner Minshew put the ball in the air 49 times. Even with the bye weeks Eifert just isn’t producing enough to warrant a fantasy start.
Week 5 at Houston Texans
Although Gardner Minshew passed for over 350 yards in the loss to the Bengals last week Tyler Eifert collected only two catches for 22 yards. He received six looks for the second time this season, but the veteran has just eight receptions for 77 yards through his first four games with the Jags. The Texans have shown a strong pass defense so look elsewhere for your starting TE.
Week 4 at Cincinnati Bengals
After a decent Week 2 performance, Tyler Eifert recorded only two catches for 11 yards in the loss to the Dolphins last Thursday. Even with Gardner Minshew airing it out 42 times, Eifert saw only three looks, one fewer than fellow TE James O’Shaughnessy. While he’ll be facing his former team and wants to have a strong outing on Sunday, it’s advised you look elsewhere for your starting TE.
Week 3 vs. Miami Dolphins
In the loss at Tennessee last week, Tyler Eifert received six looks from Gardner Minshew, leading to three receptions for 36 yards and his first score as a Jaguar. After being targeted just once in the opener, he was a much bigger part of the passing attack with Minshew throwing 45 times. Even though the Dolphins defense hasn’t been very good the first two weeks, Eifert is still just a TE2 play on Thursday night.
Week 2 at Tennessee Titans
In his first game with the Jaguars, Tyler Eifert saw just one look, resulting in an eight-yard reception. Gardner Minshew did a nice job of distributing the ball around, with the Jacksonville TEs combining to receive only two targets. For now there is little reason for Eifert to be wasting a spot on your fantasy roster.
Week 1 – Tyler Eifert vs. Indianapolis Colts
After spending his first seven pro seasons in Cincinnati, Tyler Eifert makes his Jaguars debut on Sunday. Last year was the first in his career in which he didn’t miss a game, snagging 43 passes and three TDs along the way. Eifert’s best season came in ’15 when he registered 13 of his 24 NFL scores. At 6’6” he’s still a great weapon near the goal line, but there are better TEs for you to start for the opener.
Week 17 vs Cleveland
Tyler Eifert did remain healthy for much of the season, but the overall production wasn't nearly what some expected. He has 41 receptions for 402 yards which is the most since 2015. He also added three touchdowns.
Eifert faces Cleveland who is 31st in aFPA to tight ends. He had four catches for 49 yards in the first meeting between the two teams and he should be in the same area statistically. That ranks him as a TE2 for Week 17. Keep Eifert on the bench.
Week 16 at Miami
We know what to expect every week from Tyler Eifert. He has been consistently around the three or four catch mark each week and has not been a red zone threat.
The matchup against Miami isn't great as the Dolphins are 11th in aFPA to tight ends. And there are much better matchups for the Bengals this week. Keep Eifert on the bench as a low-end TE2 for Week 16.
Week 13 vs New York Jets
Tyler Eifert continues to mirror the Bengals offense. Not very effective. He is averaging about two receptions per game over the past month and really hasn't been prominent in the passing game.
The Jets are ranked 12th in aFPA to tight ends. Even with a neutral matchup, Eifert should stay on your bench for Week 13.
Week 12 vs Pittsburgh
Tyler Eifert had three receptions for 21 yards last week, but the targets have dropped with rookie quarterback Ryan Finley in the lineup. Eifert had two catches in the first meeting with the Steelers and we don't expect much more even though Pittsburgh is ranked 28th in aFPA to tight ends.
Eifert only rates a low-end TE2 for Week 12 so keep him on the bench.
