ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Divisional Round, 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Divisional Round vs. Seattle
In 13 games this season, Tevin Coleman rushed for 520 yards and eight touchdowns on 118 carries, while also adding 31 receptions for 421 yards and an additional three scores through the air. He has a tough matchup on Saturday against a Seahawks defense that finished as fantasy's No. 3 unit against running backs. Ranked as our RB9 for the Divisional round, Coleman has some value in DFS play, especially when you consider that the Falcons will likely use him heavily in the passing game. He'll also be relatively cheap in comparison to the other backs playing this weekend.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New Orleans
Tevin Coleman rushed nine times for 90 yards and scored once while catching all three of his targets for an additional 45 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Panthers. Coleman's day basically consisted of two plays: A 31-yard reception up the sidelines on a third-and-21 with the Falcons backed up to their own goal line in the fourth quarter, and a 55-yard touchdown run when he broke through several half-hearted tackles by Carolina defenders. Nevertheless, Coleman continues to be a big-play threat every time he touches the ball and despite working in a timeshare with starter Devonta Freeman, there is more than enough touches to go around in Atlanta's explosive offense. Ranked as our RB11 for Week 17, Coleman is a low-end RB1 option for Sunday's game against the Saints, who rank No. 27 against fantasy running backs this season.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Carolina
Tevin Coleman finished with 14 carries for 58 yards and caught both of his targets for eight yards in the Falcons' Week 15 win over the 49ers. After scoring twice against the Rams in Week 14, Coleman's performance was somewhat disappointing. He didn't play much in the fourth quarter, but even still, Devonta Freeman (20 carries, 139 yards, three touchdowns) was simply more effective. Ranked as our RB26 for Week 16, Coleman is a risky FLEX option for Saturday's game against the Panthers, who rank No. 2 against fantasy running backs in 2016.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. San Francisco
Tevin Coleman rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown on eight carries while also adding two catches for 19 yards and an additional score in the Falcons' blowout win over the Rams in Week 14. Coleman out-touched and out-gained Devonta Freeman while leaping back onto the fantasy radar after disappearing in November due to a hamstring injury. On Sunday the Falcons host the 49ers, who rank No. 32 in the league against fantasy running backs this season. Coleman ranks as our RB13 in PPR formats and is a legitimate RB2 option for Week 15.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Los Angeles
Tevin Coleman rushed 12 times for 49 yards in the Falcons' Week 13 loss to the Chiefs. He was also targeted twice in the passing game but was held without a catch. Coleman continues to work as the No. 2 back behind Devonta Freeman in Atlanta's backfield but the 12 carries were four more than he had a week ago in his first action since injuring his hamstring in Week 7. Julio Jones (turf toe) and Mohamed Sanu (groin) are both banged-up, which could mean the Falcons lean heavily on Freeman and Coleman this week. Ranked as our RB31 in PPR leagues, Coleman is a legitimate FLEX option for Sunday's game against the Rams. Atlanta may have no choice but to utilize both Freeman and Coleman in both the running and passing game (especially if Matt Ryan's blindside protector Jake Matthews also misses the game due to a knee injury).

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City
In his return from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for roughly a month, Tevin Coleman rushed eight times for nine yards and a touchdown. While the touchdown was nice for desperate owners that had to start Coleman, the biggest takeaway is that he didn't suffer a setback. He should see his normal workload starting on Sunday when the Falcons host the Chiefs, who rank 5th against fantasy running backs this season. Devonta Freeman remains the No. 1 back in Atlanta, but the Falcons seem committed to giving Coleman between 10-12 touches when he's healthy. Ranked as our RB31 for Week 13, view Coleman as a RB3 option for Sunday.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Arizona
After he was sidelined for the team's last four games, Tevin Coleman is expected to return from a hamstring injury on Sunday when the Falcons host the Cardinals. He should assume the role of No. 2 back in Atlanta's backfield committee but how much the Falcons will push Coleman off the injury remains a question. Ranked as our RB40 for Week 12, it's best to leave Coleman on your bench until it's obvious that his touches are back to where they were before he suffered the injury.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. San Diego
Tevin Coleman rushed just five times for 10 yards and caught a seven-yard catch in the Falcons Week 6 loss to the Seahawks. Seattle shut down Atlanta's running game in the second half and once Matt Ryan got rolling in the second half thanks to an up-tempo approach, but Coleman and Devonta Freeman took a backseat to Julio Jones and the receivers.

Coleman should bounce back this week when the Falcons host the Chargers, who own the 30th-ranked fantasy defense versus running backs. Coleman is our RB17 in PPR formats and is a solid streaming option for Week 7.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Seattle
Tevin Coleman rushed six times for 31 yards while also catching four-of-six targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 5 win over the Broncos. The key takeaway for fantasy owners is that Atlanta made Coleman a focal point of the game plan, lining him up in the slot in order to utilize his speed against slow-footed linebackers. Devonta Freeman remains the Falcons’ No. 1 back, but Coleman continues to play key roles in Kyle Shanahan’s offense week after week.

It’s getting to the point where Coleman is an intriguing weekly play in PPR leagues. He ranks as our RB22 for Sunday’s matchup versus the Seahawks, so consider him a low-end RB2 or FLEX play when Atlanta travels to Seattle this weekend.

ATL RB Tevin Coleman - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Denver
Tevin Coleman rushed eight times for 19 yards while adding three receptions for an additional 14 yards in the Falcons' win over the Panthers last Sunday. Considering Coleman was coming off a three-touchdown performance in Week 3 and the Falcons racked up 571 yards of total offense, it was a disappointing output for the second-year back. Nevertheless, Coleman continues to have a significant role in an offense that has scored 40-plus points in back-to-back games.

As for Week 5, Coleman has the sickle cell trait and was unsure if he'd play Sunday with the Falcons traveling to Denver to play in the high altitude. But both Coleman and coach Dan Quinn said earlier this week that he will play versus the Broncos, although he'll be monitored closely by the training staff.

Ranked as our RB35 for Week 5, it's best to avoid Coleman in case he winds up playing on a limited basis. Plus, it's not as if the matchup is favorable either.
