Week 10 vs. Buffalo Bills
If Ricky Seals-Jones and Demetrius Harris could combine their numbers into one tight end, they might be a decent streaming option. But as individuals, neither one is putting up enough production to warrant fantasy consideration.
Week 9 at Denver Broncos
Ricky Seals-Jones has been hot and cold as Cleveland tried to find a replacement for David Njoku. He's scored in two out of the last four games, but he's also not caught a pass in two out of the last four games. He's a TD-or-bust tight end and Denver has only allowed one receiving touchdown to a TE all season.
Week 8 at New England Patriots
Ricky Seals-Jones has been surprisingly productive as David Njoku's replacement, but he's inconsistent. In his last three games, he's finished 3-82-1, 0-0 and 3-47-1. So two-touchdown games sandwiched around a goose egg. He's a very risky start this week against a tough Patriots defense, however. He'd be a touchdown-or-bust option and the Patriots haven't allowed a touchdown to a tight end all season.
Week 6 vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Browns are splitting time between three tight ends: Ricky Seals-Jones, Demetrius Harris and Pharaoh Brown. None of them have really made an impact in David Njoku's absence. In fact, none of them had any receiving yards in Week 5 despite all of them playing at least 30% of the offensive snaps. At this point, none of them have fantasy value.
Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers
Ricky Seals-Jones came out of nowhere last week to finish 3-82-1 on three targets. With David Njoku out and Demetrius Harris not producing, Seals-Jones looked like a nice receiving threat. To be fair, though, 59 of his 82 yards came on one play, so let's not get too excited. He also played on just 30% of the snaps while Harris played 67%. Seals-Jones is interesting, but not worth playing in fantasy quite yet.
Week 16 vs. Los Angeles Rams
Ricky Seals-Jones had another clunker of a game last week against a vulnerable Falcons defense. He put up only 22 yards on three receptions, although he was targeted eight times. Targets haven’t produced results for Seals-Jones however, as he has caught only 48.5 percent of the balls thrown his way – sixth-worst in the league among players with at least 38 targets this season according to Next Gen Stats. There’s no reason to think he’ll be valuable this week against the Rams, and fantasy owners should leave him on waivers for the rest of the season.
Week 15 at Atlanta Falcons
Ricky Seals-Jones had only 31 yards last week, though he was targeted five times. Seals-Jones has only one touchdown all season, and while he’s catching only 50 percent of the balls thrown his way. He’s also averaging a mere 24.5 yards per game. Even with a nice matchup against the Falcons this week, fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.
Week 14 vs. Detroit Lions
Ricky Seals-Jones caught only one pass for 10 yards last week against the Packers. The Cardinals don’t use him much, have a terrible situation at quarterback and he’s been a disappointment in nearly every game as a starter. There’s no reason he should be on any fantasy roster.
Week 13 at Green Bay Packers
Ricky Seals-Jones had a miserable five yards on one catch last week against the Chargers, as the Cardinals were destroyed from start to finish. Seals-Jones has failed to capitalize on his physical talents all season and it seems unlikely he’ll suddenly turn it around now. While he always has some upside, he belongs on waivers until he shows he can actually produce at some point.
Week 12 at Los Angeles Chargers
Ricky Seals-Jones only caught one pass for five yards in a disappointing game against the vulnerable Oakland Raiders defense last week. So far this season, Seals-Jones has been much more upside than production, and there’s no reason to think that will change this week against a Chargers defense that has allowed only four touchdowns to opposing tight ends all season.
