CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 11 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Martellus Bennett had a letdown game last week against Green Bay. He finished with two receptions for 45 yards on six targets. Bennett's success in games comes and goes. He can be a strong TE1 option one week and then a complete bust the next.

Even though he's been up and down, Bennett is still one of the top tight end options in fantasy this season. He should be viewed as a TE1, even in a tough matchup against Minnesota.

Martellus Bennett - Week 10 vs. Green Bay

Martellus Bennett led the team in receiving yards (95) when the Bears last played in Week 8 against New England. He caught a touchdown in the game, bringing his season total to five.

He's been one of the best options at tight end this season and is a fixture in the Bears' offense. He's continuing to put up good numbers even with Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte on the team.

This week he faces the Packers for the second time this year. Bennett set season highs in receptions (9) and yards (134) the last time he played Green Bay. He should be viewed as a strong TE1 option.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 8 vs. New England

Martellus Bennett played on 94 percent of the team's offensive snaps last week against Miami despite an apparent hamstring injury. The injury forced him to miss Wednesday's practice and he was a limited participant on Thursday. It sounds like the missed practice was more of a precautionary measure.

In terms of production, Bennett played pretty well last week all things considered. The Bears struggled on offense, but the tight end was able to put up 5 receptions for 58 yards (second best on the team).

He gets a favorable matchup this week against New England. Considering the shallow tight end pool, Bennett should be viewed as a TE1 option.

Martellus Bennett - Week 7 vs. Miami

Martellus Bennett's hot season has cooled off a bit over the last two games. He did well in Week 6 (4-52) considering Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery both went over 100 receiving yards.

Bennett's usage could be going down as Marshall and Jeffery continue to get healthier. He'll still be a good option moving forward, but maybe not as great as he was before. He should still be used as a TE1 this week against Miami.

Martellus Bennett - Week 6 vs. Atlanta

Martellus Bennett's great season didn't continue last week. Through the first four games he was a force to be reckoned with, but against Carolina he caught just three passes for 17 yards.

For now we'll just view the game as an anomaly. Bennett is still second in the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He also is tied with Matt Forte for the most targets on the team.

This week he'll go up against the Falcons who have been the toughest on TEs. They haven't allowed a touchdown to the position all season and aren't allowing many yards, either. Still, Bennett is a focus of the Bears' potent passing attack and should be used as a TE1.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 5 vs. Carolina

Martellus Bennett is having a phenomenal 2014 season. He's currently the highest scoring tight end in fantasy and he's coming off a huge 9-134 performance. He leads the Bears in targets (37), receptions (29) and yards (295).

He draws a difficult matchup against the Panthers this week. Carolina hasn't allowed a touchdown to a tight end all season and has held TEs to four receptions in each of the last three games.

Owners should look past the difficult matchup, though. Bennett is clearly a focal point of this offense and should be used as a TE1.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 4 vs. Green Bay

Martellus Bennett has been a nice surprise this season. In standard formats he's scored more points than Jimmy Graham through the first three weeks. He has a touchdown catch in each game, including two in Week 3. He's also had at least five receptions in each game.

Statistically speaking the Packers have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. But Green Bay hasn't faced a team with a legitimate threat at the position. Seattle, New York (Jets) and Detroit don't have a tight end that's targeted as much as Marty B.

Look for the Black Unicorn to continue his success into Week 4. He should be viewed as a TE1.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 3 vs. New York Jets

Martellus Bennett has opened the season with a strong presence. The Black Unicorn has caught a touchdown in each of the team's first two games. He also has 18 targets so far, best for second on the team behind Brandon Marshall. He also leads the team in receptions with 15, making him more valuable in PPR formats.

Statistically speaking the Jets have given up the fewest amount of points to tight ends this season. But that stat comes with an asterisk. The Jets haven't really faced a legitimate TE threat so far. Bennett has proven to be a TE1 and one of Jay Cutler's favorite targets.

Bennett should be viewed as a TE1 this week and can be started in all formats.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 2 vs. San Francisco

Update
Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are listed as questionable for Sunday night's game. If either one, or both, of these guys don't play Bennett will likely see an increase in targets.
End Update

Martellus Bennett benefited from Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery missing playing time in Week 1. The Bears TE saw 10 targets (second behind only Marshall) and turned it into eight receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Bennett will face a much tougher opponent this week in San Francisco. The 49ers held Jason Witten to just two receptions for 14 yards in Week 1 and Witten is much more talented than Bennett.

His 10 targets in Week 1 is promising, but the 49ers defense is not. Bennett should be viewed as a low-end TE1 for Week 2.

CHI TE Martellus Bennett - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Martellus Bennett - Week 1 vs. Buffalo Bills

Martellus Bennett set career highs in receptions (65) and receiving yards (759) last season under Marc Trestman. While he's not one of the top tight ends in the league, he is serviceable in fantasy.

In Week 1 he faces a Buffalo Bills team that lost linebacker Kiko Alonso for the season. Alonso helped make the Bills one of the toughest defenses against tight ends a season ago. Without Alonso in the middle, Bennett should find some success. He's a borderline TE1 play.
