Week 12 at Pittsburgh Steelers
Mark Andrews had a great game last week against the Titans, catching five of his seven targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. While he’s had some lulls in production, he has found the end zone six times this season and is averaging six targets per game, and leads the team in receptions and receiving yards. Andrews is the primary receiving option in Baltimore and should continue to be so.
This week, Andrews faces a Steelers defense that ranks first in aFPA to opposing tight ends. He’s also dealing with a thigh injury and the Baltimore game is at risk due to COVID. Not the best circumstances to count on Andrews. Assuming the game is on, and Andrews is active, and Lamar Jackson is starting, Andrews has too much talent to sit. However, fantasy owners should be looking at backup options now in case of last-minute news.
Update: The game has been moved to Wednesday, and Andrews has tested positive for COVID, so make sure you have a backup plan available.
Week 11 vs. Tennessee Titans
Mark Andrews didn’t find the end zone last week against the Patriots, but he was targeted nine times, catching seven balls for 61 yards. Those are the kind of numbers fantasy owners were hoping would be steady for Andrews after his breakout year in 2019, and it was good to see him reach a season-high in receptions.
Andrews has a great matchup this week against the Titans, who rank 25th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. He should be able to repeat his performance from last week and is probably due for a touchdown – he hasn’t scored in the past four games. Start him.
Week 10 at New England Patriots
Mark Andrews caught three of the five balls thrown his way for 22 yards last week against the Colts. Andrews has been kind of touchdown-or-bust this season, and having not scored in any of the past three games, fantasy owners must be frustrated. He’s still second on the team in targets to Marquise Brown though and has five touchdowns in eight games, so he remains an upper-echelon fantasy tight end.
Andrews has a tough matchup on paper against the Patriots this week. New England is tied for first in aFPA to opposing tight ends this season. However, the Pats D is pretty beat up right now and it’s not a great bye week for the TE position with Hayden Hurst, Dalton Schultz, and Travis Kelce all off. Andrews should be considered a top-five option at a thin position, and hopefully, he’ll find the end zone this week.
Week 9 at Indianapolis Colts
Mark Andrews was targeted six times last week against the Steelers, but he caught just three balls for 32 yards. Andrews has been a bit volatile this season, as has the Baltimore passing game in general, but he’s still an elite fantasy tight end, as his volume of targets suggests. He also has five touchdowns, even though he hasn’t scored in the past two games.
This week, Andrews faces a Colts defense that ranks third in aFPA to opposing tight ends. That’s a tough matchup, but since he gets the bulk of the targets from quarterback Lamar Jackson and is one of only a handful of tight ends across the league who can claim to be their team’s top receiving option, we still have him ranked inside our top five. Start him.
Week 8 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Mark Andrews struggled against the Eagles before the bye last week, catching just two of the four balls thrown his way for 21 yards. Still, Andrews has five touchdowns this season and is averaging 5.5 targets per game. He remains an every-week starter at the tight end position in all league formats.
This week, he’ll face a tough Steelers defense that ranks second in the aFPA to opposing tight ends. While it may be tough for Andrews to put up huge numbers in a tough matchup, he’s worth starting due to his targets, which will likely increase in what should be a close game. Pittsburgh packs a powerful offensive punch, which should force the Ravens to throw the ball a bit more. That benefits Andrews.
Week 6 at Philadelphia Eagles
Mark Andrews had another nice game last week against the Bengals, catching six of the nine balls thrown his way for 56 yards and a touchdown. Andrews is averaging 5.8 targets per game and now has five touchdowns on the season, including three in the last two weeks. He’s a consistent option in this offense and is Lamar Jackson’s favorite safety valve.
This week, Andrews faces an Eagles defense that ranks second to last behind the Falcons in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Expect a Baltimore game plan that includes a heavy dose of targets to Andrews. He should be active every week regardless of matchup, but against the Eagles, we have him as a top-five option in all formats. Start him.
Week 5 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Mark Andrews came back in a big way last week against Washington catching three balls for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Only three targets is never something you like to see, but that’s the risk with a team as good as Baltimore. They got up early and threw the ball just 23 times on the day. Andrews seems to get quality targets though and is a threat to score every week.
The Bengals actually rank ninth in aFPA to opposing tight ends this season, but Andrews isn’t an ordinary tight end and should still thrive. The Bengals’ offense should be just good enough to keep the Ravens from having a run-only second half, and that should allow Andrews to produce. We have him as an elite fantasy option and he should be active in all leagues.
Week 4 at Washington Football Team
After a great Week 1, Mark Andrews had a combined four catches and 51 yards over his past two games. Andrews was targeted eight times against the Chiefs last week however, meaning he’s still a primary cog in the Ravens’ passing attack. While Nick Boyle ended up getting a touchdown, he had just two targets on the day. Andrews should continue to be considered an elite fantasy option at the position, despite two consecutive bad games.
This week, Andrews faces a Washington defense that has been vulnerable to opposing tight ends. They rank 28th in aFPA to the position, and they just gave up a touchdown to Harrison Bryant last week. Look for Andrews to get back on track and he’s a must-start in all league formats.
Week 3 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Mark Andrews had a disappointing game against the Texans last week, catching just one of his three targets for 29 yards. He was phenomenal in Week 1 however, and he should get back to his steady targets against the Chiefs this week, who are unlikely to fall behind early and cause the Ravens to run the ball more, as happened against Houston last week. The Ravens still look to Andrews early and often, especially in the red zone, and fantasy owners shouldn’t blink about keeping him in their lineups every week.
The Chiefs also gave up six catches and 83 yards to Hunter Henry last week, along with a touchdown to Jordan Akins in Week 1. That’s a good sign for Andrews to get back on track in a nice matchup. Start him in all league formats as a legit TE1.
Week 2 at Houston Texans
Mark Andrews got off to a great start to the season, catching five of the six balls thrown his way for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Andrews tied for the team-lead in targets and picked up right where he left off a season ago as one of the premier fantasy tight ends in the league. His rapport with Lamar Jackson seems to be getting better and better, and he may soon challenge Travis Kelce for the top tight end in the game slot.
This week, Andrews is a must start against the Texans, who gave up a touchdown to Kelce a week ago. Andrews should be active every week, regardless of matchup, and the Texans provide a nice opportunity for him to continue his excellent start to the 2020 season. Don’t even consider sitting him.
