Fantasy Upside

The rookie out of Northern Illinois impressed during OTAs. Not only does Kenny Golladay run routes well, he has also shown great hands and, at 6-foot-4 he has been able to out-jump defensive backs. In his two years with the Huskies, Golladay caught 160 passes for nearly 2,300 yards and scored a total of 21 TDs. With Anquan Boldin gone, there’s an opening for the No. 3 WR spot. That third receiver role was on the field for roughly 73 percent of the offensive plays last season, and was rotated between three receivers.

Fantasy Downside

There are a lot of options for Matthew Stafford in the passing game, including a solid TE and RBs who can catch the ball. Golladay will need to earn the trust of his QB to see significant snaps.

2017 Bottom Line

With Boldin no longer in Detroit, the team needs a new No. 3, and it looks like it’ll be Golladay stepping in. Already nicknamed “Babytron” by some, look for the rookie to get his fair share of targets, especially in the red zone thanks to his height. Golladay is likely not worth a roster spot early in the season, but he could be a force during the second half and is definitely an interesting pickup in all keeper leagues.
