DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Minnesota Vikings
After leaving last week’s game with a hip injury, Kenny Golladay is likely out Sunday at Minnesota. Even though Matthew Stafford wound up throwing for over 300 yards in the loss to the Colts, Golladay was held without a catch on four targets before exiting in the third quarter.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Indianapolis Colts
Matthew Stafford threw for a season-high 340 yards against the Falcons last week, with Kenny Golladay recording six receptions for 114 yards – his second straight 100-yard game. Golladay made a couple acrobatic catches in the comeback win and continues to be Stafford’s go-to option. Even though the Colts defense has been solid this season Golladay should remain in your starting lineup, although you may want to temper expectations just a tad.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Atlanta Falcons
In the victory against the Jaguars last week, Kenny Golladay again led the Lions in targets (six), receptions (four), and yards (105). The Detroit ground game controlled the clock, so Matthew Stafford threw for just 223 yards with Golladay collecting nearly half of that total. He remains a top WR on the road Sunday against a bad Atlanta pass defense.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Even though Matthew Stafford threw for just 206 yards in the loss to the Saints two weeks ago, Kenny Golladay snagged four balls for 62 yards and his first score of the season. He was targeted eight times – twice as much as the next highest pass catchers. If the Lions can keep from having to play catchup at Jacksonville on Sunday, they should have a more balanced attack. Either way, Golladay needs to be part of your starting lineup.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New Orleans Saints
After missing the first two games with a sore hamstring Kenny Golladay led the Lions with six receptions and 57 yards in the win over the Cards last week. He and TE T.J. Hockenson were targeted a team-high seven times and the receiver even posted his first TD of ‘20. Matthew Stafford will continue to throw Golladay’s way and the duo have a good matchup at home on Sunday. Now that he’s healthy Golladay is a must-start.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Kenny Golladay vs. Chicago Bears
Even though he was productive with anyone under center last season, Kenny Golladay is happy to have Matthew Stafford back. In ’19 Detroit’s top WR posted his second-straight 1,000-yard season, averaging over 18 yards per grab with 11 scores. In the two contests versus Chicago last season, he totaled 215 yards and two TDs. Of course you’re starting him in the season opener. He is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, so be sure to keep tabs on it Golladay.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
What an outstanding third pro season Kenny Golladay had in ’19. On 119 targets, he snagged 65 passes for nearly 1,200 yards, averaging 18.3 yards per catch, and scored 11 times. And, he did all that without Matthew Stafford at QB for half of the season, seeing his number of targets decreased in contests without the veteran under center. Golladay has eclipsed 1,000 yards in two straight years and registered five 100-yard games in ’19. He is only 26 and has missed just one game the past two seasons.

Fantasy Downside
After the big year you have to wonder if the numbers will drop off in ’20, even if Stafford can remain healthy throughout. In his first two seasons he was targeted 167 times, which resulted in only eight TDs. Despite being the Lions top WR the past two seasons, he’s totaled a modest 135 receptions and managed to snag more than four passes in a contest just six times last season.

Bottom Line
Heading into the season, on paper Golladay is a top-10 fantasy WR. He has great size and speed, making him a nightmare matchup for DBs. As is the case with the Lions, if Stafford can remain upright for the whole season, the team and Galloway can post strong offensive numbers. While Galloway will continue to be the featured WR for Detroit, he’s going to need to see more targets this season in order to finish in the top 10 in PPR leagues.
