Week 12 vs. Green Bay Packers
Kendrick Bourne isn’t a starter. He’s not putting up huge yardage totals. He’s not in a high-powered passing offense. Yet somehow Kendrick Bourne has three touchdowns in as many games. It’s baffling, and it seems like something that should regress to the mean at some point, making it hard to trust the recent production. He’s definitely benefitted from the injury to Emmanuel Sanders, which may not continue as Sanders – who was active last week – inches back to 100%. However, Bourne seems like a bit of fool’s gold right now and fantasy owners should take a cautious approach with him as long as Sanders and rookie Deebo Samuel remain active. Leave him on waivers or stash him on your bench.
Week 11 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Kendrick Bourne had four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown last week against the Seahawks and was one of the lone bright spots in the 49ers passing game in what turned into a tough overtime loss. Bourne has some potential if Emmanuel Sanders and George Kittle miss the game against a vulnerable Cardinals’ defense this week, but it’s hard to trust him in even that best-case scenario. Fantasy owners should leave him on waivers in the vast majority of league formats.
Week 10 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Kendrick Bourne only has two catches on two targets for a total of 19 yards since the 49ers traded for Emmanuel Sanders two weeks ago. His snap count has plummeted as well, as he was on the field for only 27% of the team’s offensive snaps last week against the Cardinals – fourth on the team among wide receivers. Barring multiple injuries, there’s no reason to expect Bourne to produce in his current role, and he should be left on waivers in all formats.
Week 9 at Arizona Cardinals
Kendrick Bourne caught one pass for 12 yards last week and saw his snaps decrease from 89% in Week 7 to just 48% last week. With Emmanuel Sanders now on the roster and Deebo Samuel seemingly healthy, the already minimal targets going around in San Francisco are now even more limited for Bourne. Leave him on waivers.
Week 8 vs. Carolina Panthers
Kendrick Bourne caught three balls for 69 yards last week against Washington, which was impressive given the terrible conditions. He was also on the field for 89% of the offensive snaps, a number that will likely go down if Marquise Goodwin’s head injury isn’t serious and with the addition of Emmanuel Sanders via trade this week. It’s a bad matchup anyway against the Panthers. Tough defense and questionable playing time make for a bad combination for Bourne, who should remain on waivers.
Week 7 at Washington Redskins
Kendrick Bourne caught one pass for 11 yards last week. Bourne has shown some potential in previous spurts of action, but he’s buried on the depth chart and doesn’t have enough upside to warrant a roster spot in any fantasy leagues. Leave him on waivers.
Week 6 at Los Angeles Rams
Kendrick Bourne caught both balls thrown his way on Monday night in a blowout win over the Browns, gaining 24 yards. He was on the field for just 22% of the snaps, however, which is actually lower than his 27% total for the season. Much of that was related to the team running the ball so effectively in a lop-sided victory, but it’s unlikely to see Bourne rise higher than fourth on the depth chart barring multiple injuries in the receiving corps. Leave him on waivers.
Week 17 at Los Angeles Rams
Kendrick Bourne had four catches for 73 yards last week against the Bears. He’s been mildly productive at times this season on his way to 37 receptions, 428 yards and three touchdowns. Bourne has had to step in from time to time due to injuries at the position, and this week is no exception with the loss of rookie Dante Pettis. Bourne should get the start and be the primary weapon outside for Nick Mullens, giving him some deep league upside. Still, even with additional targets, it’s hard to trust the youngster in a championship game, and fantasy owners should look elsewhere in most formats.
