Week 9 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Darren Fells has emerged as the top TE for the Texans, posting 174 yards and four scores over the past month. During that same timeframe, Jordan Akins registered just 88 yards and no TDs. Akins only two touchdowns in ’19 came back in Week 3. He should only be started if you’re out of other options.
Week 8 vs. Oakland Raiders
In the loss to the Colts last week, Jordan Akins saw two targets, leading to two grabs for 17 yards. He hasn’t scored in four straight and has only 15 catches on the season. With fellow TE Darren Fells posting similar numbers, they both are risky fantasy plays.
Week 7 at Indianapolis Colts
Fellow TE Darren Fells posted solid fantasy numbers again last week in Kansas City, with Jordan Akins catching all three of his targets for 39 yards. It was the third time this season he snagged exactly three passes, but he’s been held out of the end zone in three straight contests. With Fells and Akins in the mix for the Texans, despite some recent success neither of them makes for a good starting fantasy TE.
Week 6 at Kansas City Chiefs
In Week 3 it was Jordan Akins posting a huge game, with 73 yards and two scores. Last Sunday it was fellow TE Darren Fells who had the big game, with a couple of TDs himself. Akins saw just one target last week versus Atlanta, turning it into a 21-yard grab. He has only 10 receptions on the season and, outside of his one big game, has been irrelevant. You’re probably better off looking elsewhere for your starter.
Week 5 vs. Atlanta Falcons
Houston’s pass offense struggled last week versus Carolina, which meant Jordan Akins was limited to just three receptions for 21 yards. Outside of his big performance in Week 3 in which he also caught two TDs, Akins has totaled only six grabs for 63 yards the other three contests. He remains a risky fantasy start.
Week 4 vs. Carolina Panthers
Wow, where did that come from? Jordan Akins had a career performance in Los Angeles last Sunday, recording three receptions for 73 yards and two TDs, including a 53-yarder in which the Chargers secondary left him wide open. Akins came into the contest with just 20 catches in his first 18 games. If you started him last week, congratulations! However, an outing anywhere similar to that is too much to ask for.
Week 3 at Los Angeles Chargers
In the first two weeks, Jordan Akins caught three passes, including two for 25 yards in the one-point win versus the Jaguars last Sunday. However, there has to be better TE options for you to start over Akins.
Week 2 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Even though Deshaun Watson threw the ball 30 times in the loss at New Orleans last Monday night, Jordan Akins saw only two looks, resulting in just a 17-yard catch. At this time there is no reason for Akins to be on a fantasy roster.
Week 8 vs. Miami Dolphins
The rookie out of Central Florida has caught two passes for 15 yards this season. Even if Ryan Griffin is inactive again for the matchup with Miami on Thursday night, there is no reason Jordan Akins should even be on your fantasy roster.
