Super Bowl vs. Denver
Ed Dickson wasn’t targeted in the NFC Championship Game against the Cardinals and he’s unlikely to get considerable work in the Super Bowl this week. Dickson remains a backup to one of the best tight ends in the league, and he’s far too risky of an option for fantasy owners to bank on. If you can’t get one of the top two starters at the position, it’s going to be difficult to make up ground with Dickson.
NFC Championship vs. Arizona
Ed Dickson caught two passes for 22 yards in relief of Greg Olsen last week, as the Panthers had a scary moment where Olsen’s shoulder looked to be injured. Olsen appears to be fine for this week though, which makes Dickson still a backup. Dickson gets a couple looks each game as the backup tight end, but he’s not consistent enough to warrant fantasy consideration, and owners should look elsewhere this week.
Week 19 vs Seattle
Ed Dickson scored the occasional touchdown for the Panthers this season, but he remains the backup tight end for the team behind Pro Bowler Greg Olsen, and as long as that’s the case, there’s no reason to assume he’ll be a reliable fantasy option. Owners should look elsewhere this week and avoid Dickson.
Divisional Round – Ed Dickson vs. Seattle
Ed Dickson had a nice 34 yard catch last week against the Cardinals, but it was the only pass he caught, and he continues to be mostly an afterthought in the Panthers offense. There’s no reason to expect that to change this week, and against a tough Seahawks defense, we have him next to last in our rankings this week. Look elsewhere.
Wildcard Weekend – Ed Dickson vs. Arizona
Ed Dickson had a touchdown last week, but it was his only reception on the day and went for only five yards. Don’t expect that kind of action from Dickson on a regular basis, and fantasy owners shouldn’t use him in any league formats while he remains behind Greg Olsen on the depth chart.
Week 17 – Ed Dickson vs. Atlanta
Ed Dickson had two catches and 44 yards last week against the Browns, but that was nearly double his season total in yardage and it’s unlikely he’ll reproduce even those modest numbers. He’s the backup tight end in Carolina and should remain on waivers in this final week of the season.
Week 16 – Ed Dickson vs. Cleveland
Ed Dickson didn’t catch a pass last week, and only has seven catches all season on 14 targets. There’s no reason to expect that to change this week against Cleveland and Dickson should remain on waivers for the foreseeable future.
Week 15 – Ed Dickson vs. Tampa Bay
Ed Dickson caught one of two passes thrown his way and ended up with 10 yards. These are top end numbers for the veteran backup, and fantasy owners shouldn’t clutter their rosters with a guy that so clearly isn’t a part of the passing game.
Week 14 – Ed Dickson vs. New Orleans
Ed Dickson didn’t catch a pass last week, and it seems unlikely that a struggling Panthers offense will suddenly produce enough fantasy points to carry two tight ends into relevancy. It’s the Greg Olsen show in Carolina and there’s no reason for Dickson to be on a fantasy roster.
Week 13 – Ed Dickson vs. Minnesota
Ed Dickson had two catches for 20 yards, including a nice 17 yard reception against the Falcons two weeks ago. Dickson remains a backup TE who only appears in multiple TE sets, however, and his fantasy value is limited. He should remain on the waiver wire in all fantasy leagues.
