Hey Guys,

2 QB/ 2RB/ 2WR/ 1Flex (RB or WR)/ 1TE .5 PPR 8 Team league

1) I was wondering if Full Impact Settings should be set at 2 RB and 3 WR since WRs generally appear to outscore RBs with this scoring system, and it would seem probable teams will start a WR in the Flex position.

2) If so, let's say that using the rankings, my first 2 picks in the draft are WRs and the next highest rated player is another WR. Do I select the 3rd WR or take the next highest rated player from another position? In other words, how do I know when I am overloaded at a position and have to reach for another position?

3) Is it generally a good idea to draft starting line-up first (the exception being Def, K, and very low ranked players at other positions) or to follow the rankings and accumulate high-quality depth at some positions?

Thanks!

I think that's a good way to set it up, that should put a priority on WRs for you to at least give you three good ones to play the third as the flex if that's how you want to set up your team. As for question number two, that's again a preference I would say. Since you can start that third WR, I think it's fine to take him rather than reach for another player of lesser value to fill another position.

What I like to do in this situation is look at the lists of available guys at each position. If I see a bunch of RBs still there and I'm happy getting any of them, I'll take that third WR like you're suggesting. You may look at your list and see there are a bunch of WRs you like and would take any of them, so then maybe go for another position and let one come to you - unless you're reaching of course.

I know a lot at the site suggest going WR-WR to start your draft, but I do like to go WR-RB or RB-WR to keep my options open at the third and fourth picks. It really depends how the draft goes but if you're drafting with some balance, you shouldn't feel like you have to reach for a position just because it's one of need. Sometimes you have to, but I try to avoid putting myself in those situations.

I do like to get my lineup drafted first, but sometimes a guy falls and maybe you take him just because you think he's a great value, and it gives you a fourth WR when you only need 3 for example. Sometimes I think it's worth it to do that.
