Scouting report

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Michael Carter's touches went down from 17 in Week 1 to 12 in Week 2. However, he still was on the field for over 60% of the snaps for the second straight games which means it's not Breece Hall's show yet. He has pretty good value in PPR leagues as he now has 12 receptions.

Carter faces the Bengals who are ranked 21st in aFPA to running backs. He had one of his best games of his rookie year against Cincinnati last year rushing for 77 yards and added 9 receptions for 95 yards.

Start Carter for Week 3 as a solid RB3 or Flex. He has shown that the Jets are going to involve him in the passing game and the Bengals defense has been suspect at times so far in 2022.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Cleveland Browns
Although much of the hype was for Breece Hall in the preseason, Michael Carter had 17 touches for 100 yards in Week 1. He played 60% of the snaps, but was very active with the offense when he was on the field. Hall played 45% of the snaps so they were on the field at the same time on occasion.

Carter faces the Browns who are ranked 17th in aFPA to running backs after the first week. Cleveland's defense is solid and there are still question marks surrounding New York's quarterback situation.

Carter went undrafted in many leagues so he could still be on your waiver wire. He ranks a solid RB3 or Flex for Week 2 based on the touches he had last week. Right now, he is ahead of Hall in the pecking order although that can change quickly.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Although many people jumped on rookie Breece Hall in their drafts, Michael Carter could have more value earlier in the season. The Jets haven't tipped their hand on the running back usage but most teams tend to to go the more experienced player early in the season.

Carter will face the Ravens who are ranked 4th in aFPA to running backs. There are still lots of questions about the New York offense overall, so Carter will be a question mark.

If you do need a third running back or flex, Carter could fit the bill for at least Week 1, although he would be a low-end option.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Tampa Bay
After a slow return two weeks ago, Michael Carter was the main running back last week for the Jets. The rookie rushed 16 times for 118 yards and was in the game on 74% of the offensive snaps. New York loves Carter as their featured back.

Carter will face the Buccaneers who are ranked 11th in aFPA to running backs. How successful the Jets offense can be against Tampa is the biggest question. If Carter gets the touches, will it produce anything of value?

Be cautious with Carter as he ranks a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 17. He could end up putting up some decent numbers if New York's offense shows some signs of life.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Jacksonville
Michael Carter returned after missing a month with an injury but he was limited to 44% of the snaps and had nine touches for 20 yards. He basically is splitting time with veteran Tevin Coleman at this point so expect similar numbers moving forward.

The Jets face the Jaguars who are ranked 10th in aFPA to running backs. Carter should get more carries so has some value in standard leagues. Start him in all formats for Week 16 as an RB3 or flex.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Miami
Michael Carter is expected to return off the IR as his injured ankle has improved to the point he can play Sunday. Carter will be a welcome sight for both Jets fans and his fantasy owners. Before the injury, Carter had been putting up good numbers and his fantasy value had risen since the start of the season.

Carter will face the Dolphins for the second time, which is the game he was injured earlier in the season. He had nine carries for 63 yards for the Jets. Miami is ranked 6th in aFPA to running backs so don't expect huge numbers for Carter. Start him as a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 15 and make sure he is active for Sunday in case there was a setback.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Miami
It was a rough outing for the Jets offense last week but Michael Carter still got usage. He ended up with 20 touches for 82 yards and a touchdown. So, it was a solid day for Carter fantasy owners. The rookie continues to be the most reliable fantasy player in New York no matter who the quarterback is.

Carter will face the Dolphins who are ranked 13th in aFPA to running backs. He has had a minimum of 13 touches in each of the last six games so this helps his fantasy ranking.

Start Carter as a high-end RB2 for Week 11. With veteran Joe Flacco starting at QB, it might give the Jets some stability in the offense which will help Carter's overall numbers.
