JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Houston Texans

Zay Jones had one of his quietest games of the season in Week 16, as he battled a stifling Jets pass defense in addition to bad rain. Jones played 57 snaps, but drew only four targets, catching one for 14 yards. He also carried the ball once for a three-yard loss. His 1.6 Half PPR points were good for WR87 last week.

It's hard to get excited about Jones this week, given the "strengths" of the Jaguars' opponent. The Texans rank second in aFPA to wide receivers while allowing most teams to run all over them. Jones projects as a mid-tier WR3 this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New York Jets

Zay Jones had himself a day against the Cowboys in Week 15. He saw eight targets and caught six of them for 109 yards, his second 100-yard game of the season. But three of his grabs went for touchdowns, propelling him to 31.9 Half PPR points. No wide receiver scored more in Week 15.

But we should not expect similar results for Jones against the Jets this week. The Jets are the No.1 ranked team in aFPA to wide receivers this season, with only the Broncos allowing fewer receiving yards to wideouts than the Jets in 2022. Look for Jones to feature as a low-end WR2 this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Dallas Cowboys

After a dud in Week 13, Zay Jones bounced back to form nicely against the Titans in Week 14. Jones caught eight of his 12 targets for 77 yards and just his second touchdown of the season on his way to 17.7 Half PPR points. Jones was the WR9 in Week 14.

Jones will look to build on this form against the Cowboys in Week 15. The Cowboys are 18th in aFPA to wide receivers and have given up 14 receiving touchdowns to the position this season. Despite a target share almost on par with Christian Kirk, Jones's role on the Jaguars' offense offers a safe WR3 floor, which is where we project him to be this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tennessee Titans

Well...that de-escalated quickly. A week after Zay Jones caught 10 passes for 145 yards against the Ravens, he was only able to reel in two of seven targets for 16 yards against the Lions. 74 wide receivers scored more than his 2.6 Half PPR points in Week 13.

Jones should be able to bounce back in Week 14 against a friendly Titans team. The Titans have allowed the fourth most receptions, second-most receiving yards and the most receiving scores to wideouts this season while ranking 31st in aFPA to wideouts. Jones can probably be trusted to finish among the top 36 at his position this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Detroit Lions

Zay Jones, take a bow. Week 12 was a career outing for Jones, who caught 11 of his 14 targets for 145 yards. He didn't score a touchdown, but he did catch a crucial two-point conversion attempt. Jones finished with 22.0 Half PPR points and finished as WR5 in Week 12.

It'll be hard for Jones to repeat his Week 12 deeds this week, but he shouldn't be dismissed entirely. The Lions rank 27th in aFPA to wide receivers this season, allowing the third most receptions and fifth most receiving yards to wideouts. Jones deserves to be treated as a solid WR3 this week.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Baltimore Ravens

It was a typical Zay Jones day for Zay Jones against the Chiefs in Week 10. Jones saw ten targets for the third time this season, and his eight grabs and 68 yards were both his second-best returns of the year. He remained allergic to the end zone but managed 10.8 Half PPR points, good for the WR30 for the week.

It's hard to expect more than this from Jones, and this is especially true this week. The Ravens rank 17th in aPFA to wide receivers and have allowed the fourth most receptions and sixth most receiving yards to the position. His current workload gives him an uninspiring floor, but there is no real ceiling for him as a fantasy option. He's a WR4 this week, with all 32 teams in action.

JAX WR Zay Jones - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Kansas City Chiefs

For the third time this season, Zay Jones caught absolutely everything that was thrown his way, catching five of five targets against the Raiders. Sadly he garnered only 40 yards, the fifth game this season in which Jones has been held below 50. Jones managed just 6.5 Half PPR points, finishing as the weekly WR35.

The Chiefs rank 25th in aFPA to wide receivers this season, so there is hope that maybe Jones could make a bit more noise in Week 10. But he is doing so little with the chances he is being given that his fantasy appeal is severely limited, making projecting him as anything more than a WR4 this week a dangerous proposition.
