Scouting report

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Stacy vs. Chargers
For the fourth time in his last five games, Zac Stacy failed to record a carry as the Rams knocked off the Broncos in Week 11. If you haven’t parted ways with Stacy yet, he’s safe to drop in all formats. He has zero fantasy value despite being the Rams’ RB1 heading into the season.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11: Stacy vs. Broncos
Zac Stacy didn’t record a carry for the second straight game as the Rams fell to the Cardinals in Week 10. Tre Mason remains the RB1 in St. Louis and Benny Cunningham is the first off the bench. Stacy has simply fallen out of favor in St. Louis and can be safely dropped in all formats.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10: Stacy vs. Cardinals
Zac Stacy didn’t record a snap in the Rams’ Week 9 win over the 49ers. It was the second time in three weeks that Stacy failed to earn a carry as he continues to freefall down the Rams’ depth chart. Tre Mason is clearly the St. Louis back to own in fantasy and Benny Cunningham appears to be entrenched as the team’s RB2. It’s safe to drop Stacy in all formats.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9: Stacy vs. 49ers
Zac Stacy rushed five times for 17 yards and caught 3-of-4 targets for 20 yards in the Rams’ Week 8 loss to the Chiefs. One week after playing just one snap against the Seahawks, Stacy shared carries with both Tre Mason (seven carries, 32 yards) and Benny Cunningham (four carries, 27 yards). Once viewed as the clear starter in St. Louis, Stacy is now rotating series with the other two backs. The bottom line is that the backfield situation in St. Louis is a mess and should be avoided. Mason has the most upside of any back on the roster but he can’t be trusted to be a weekly starter. Leave Stacy, who ranks as our NO. 43 overall RB for Week 9, on your bench.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8: Stacy vs. Chiefs
Zac Stacy didn’t receive a carry in the Rams’ Week 7 win over the Seahawks despite being announced as the starter. Whether it’s the calf injury he suffered three weeks ago in Philadelphia or his own ineffectiveness, Stacy has clearly been bypassed by Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason on the Rams’ depth chart. Jeff Fisher has maintained publicly that the team will continue to use all three of its backs but after Mason rushed for 85 yards on 18 carries last week, he’s the back to own in fantasy leagues. It’s difficult to get a read on Brian Schottenheimer’s weekly plan for his running backs so we wouldn’t drop Stacy just yet. But if he doesn’t see many touches again this week then it’ll be safe to drop him if you need a roster spot.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7: Stacy vs. Seahawks
Zac Stacy rushed eight times for 17 yards while also catching two passes for 17 yards in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the 49ers. It's hard to get a read on how the Rams want to utilize their running backs and quite frankly, the coaching staff may not even know at this point. It is evident, however, that Stacy is no longer a viable RB2 as he continues to lose touches to a more effective Benny Cunningham. That said, Cunningham isn't seeing enough touches to be a reliable fantasy starter either, so avoid the Rams' running back mess altogether if you can. Stacy ranks as our No. 49 overall RB for Week 7.

STL RB Zac Stacy - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6: Stacy vs. 49ers
Zac Stacy rushed 11 times for 42 yards while catching 4-of-5 targets for an addition 36 yards in the Rams' Week 5 loss to the Eagles. He also lost a fumble that eventually led to a Philadelphia touchdown and suffered a calf injury in the second half that forced him from the game. He was held out of practice on Thursday and his situation is one to monitor over these next few days. The Rams play on Monday night so owners with bye week issues need to have a contingency plan. If Stacy can't go, Benny Cunningham would be the primary benefactor, followed by rookie Trey Watts. If Stacy does start, consider him a low-end RB2 with a terrible matchup against the 49ers. He ranks as our No. 28 overall RB for Week 6.
