Scouting report

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Detroit Lions

Teddy Bridgewater had a rough game against the Buccaneers last week, throwing for 136 yards, two touchdowns and a pick in what ended up a blowout loss. Bridgewater has been pretty good at times in the right matchups, but he’s a spot-starter and isn’t to be trusted when going up against a tough defense. He’s also dealing with a sprained knee, so fantasy owners banking on him should be sure to monitor the injury report. If he does play this week, Bridgewater faces a Lions defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. That makes him a viable QB2 option if the knee doesn’t wind up being an issue, but fantasy owners should look elsewhere if possible. If he’s a no-go P.J. Walker and Will Grier would get some consideration, but neither is super attractive in most leagues.

Update: Teddy is out. Be sure to get him out of your lineup.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Teddy Bridgewater had a nice game against the Chiefs in what turned into a shootout. He finished with 310 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air, and added 19 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Bridgewater threw the ball 49 times, which is likely to only happen when the Panthers are trailing, but is a good sign for fantasy owners looking for quarterback help.

This week, Bridgewater has what looks like a tough matchup against the Buccaneers, who rank third in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, but just got torched by the Saints on Sunday night. If they can right the ship, we might see another 40+ attempts from Bridgewater, giving him streaming value.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Kansas City Chiefs

Teddy Bridgewater struggled against the Falcons last week, throwing for 176 yards, a touchdown and a pick in a painful division loss. He added 30 yards rushing, which has actually been somewhat consistent this year. He has 161 rushing yards on the season, on pace for 322, which would be a career-high.

Bridgewater is worth considering again this week as a streaming option. While the Chiefs have been good on defense, ranking fourth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, their potent offense should keep the Panthers throwing the ball. Look for over 300 yards, a couple touchdowns and a couple of picks from Teddy this week.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Teddy Bridgewater had 254 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a close loss to the Saints last week. Bridgewater has the team sitting at 3-4, but all four losses were against pretty good teams, and three of them were decided by one score. He’s completing 72.2% of his passes, and has looked like a quality matchup play in deep fantasy leagues and 2QB formats.

This week, Bridgewater has a nice matchup against the Falcons, who rank dead last in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. He just put up 313 yards and a pair of touchdowns against them a few weeks ago, and he should be worth considering as a fringe-starter once again. He’s an excellent streamer for teams needing bye week help.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New Orleans Saints

Teddy Bridgewater struggled against a tough Bears defense in a loss last week, throwing for 216 yards and a pair of interceptions. He added 48 yards on the ground, which was good to see, but he counted be counted on for consistent rushing production. Bridgewater has performed reasonably well in good matchups and struggled in difficult matchups, which makes sense. As such, he should continue to be a decent spot starter and bye week filler or streamer.

This week, he’ll face a Saints defense that ranks 30th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. With a nice matchup, Bridgewater is a solid streamer this week and a quality QB2 option. If you have injury issues at the position or bye week problems, pick up Bridgewater against the Saints.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Chicago Bears

Teddy Bridgewater had a nice game against the Falcons last week, throwing for 313 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while completing 73% of his passes. It was his third straight victory, and he has the Panthers right in the thick of the NFC South race through the first quarter of the season. Teddy has four touchdown passes and one interception over his past two games and is averaging 35.6 pass attempts this season. He’s a quality QB2 option or streamer that’s going under the radar in most leagues.

This week, Bridgewater will face a Bears a defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, making it hard to recommend using him in 1QB formats. He still has value as a QB2 in deep leagues, but it’s probably best to leave him on the bench in this matchup in most formats, if possible.

CAR QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Atlanta Falcons

Teddy Bridgewater had 276 yards, two touchdowns and a pick last week, and added 32 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Don’t get used to the rushing production, as it was only the fifth of his career – and first since 2015 – but with 35.25 pass attempts per game, his passing production should be solid enough for streaming value.

The Falcons are dead last in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this season, so this is a great matchup for Bridgewater. Additionally, the Atlanta offense should put up enough points to keep the Panthers throwing. We have him as a fringe starter in all leagues this week and is a fantastic streaming option.
