TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Rams

After barely giving Ronald Jones the ball for three straight games, the Bucs remembered Jones is actually pretty good, and gave him 23 carries. He had 192 rushing yards and a touchdown with one catch for six yards (on two targets) as a result. It's his fourth game this season with 100 yards. In fact, the last four times Jones has had 15+ carries, he's rushed for 100 yards. Jones is still fighting with Leonard Fournette for playing time, however, and will get a tough matchup against the Rams in Week 11. Because his usage is so dictated by game flow, and it's a bad matchup, Jones is more in the RB3 range this week.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Carolina Panthers

While Leonard Fournette was sidelined with injury, Ronald Jones became the first back in the league this season to rush for 100 yards in three straight games. In the three games since Fournette's return, Jones is averaging 7.7 carries and 22 rushing yards per game. It seems weird the Bucs went away from what's working, but the game flow has also impacted the Jones-Fournette splits. However, it's certainly not promising to see Jones get so few opportunities in Fournette's return. He has a chance for success this week in a favorable matchup against the Panthers, but he's more of an RB3 or flex play in Week 10.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New Orleans Saints

Ronald Jones played a season-low 24% of the offensive snaps last week. You might think he suffered an injury and left early, but no. Jones was essentially benched by Bruce Arians after his first fumble of the season. So despite Jones entering last week as the NFL's fourth-leading rusher, he's clearly not immune to punishment for making a mistake. Jones' stock has plummeted since the arrival of Leonard Fournette, and Jones is now more of a flex play than a trusted RB2 or even borderline RB1. Jones gets a tough matchup against the Saints (No. 2 aFPA) this week, and will likely be fighting for touches with Fournette. Jones is a low-end RB2 for Week 9.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New York Giants

Leonard Fournette returned last week and it put a damper on Ronald Jones' hot streak. Despite rushing for 100 yards in three straight games, the Bucs gave Fournette more touches than Jones (17 to 14) in Week 7. Fournette also ended up playing more snaps than Jones (56% to 43%). After the game, Bruce Arians called Fournette his "nickel" running back, meaning he'll play in hurry-up and obvious passing situations. Jones is still the primary ball-carrier, so his usage will mostly rely on game flow (whether the Bucs pass or run the ball more). Jones still has value as an RB2 play, especially in a favorable matchup against a bad Giants team this week.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Las Vegas Raiders

Ronald Jones became the first player this season to rush for 100 yards in three straight games when he hit a season-high 113 yards last week. He also scored two touchdowns, just the second time he's scored in a game this season. Jones has received a bit of a boost with Leonard Fournette's injury, and it's unclear if Fournette returns this week. Even if he does, Jones has proven to be the back to own in this offense. It's highly possible Jones hits 100 yards again this week in a favorable matchup against the Raiders. Las Vegas is averaging an allowance of 100 rushing yards to backs per game this season. Jones is a low-end RB1 play this week.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Green Bay Packers

Ronald Jones once again reaped the benefits of an injured backfield as he finished with 20 touches in the second straight game. He also topped 100 yards in his second consecutive game. Jones' biggest problem this season has been a lack of touchdowns as he's only scored once this year. The Bucs are also expected to get Leonard Fournette back this week, which will naturally take some touches away from Jones. RoJo is still RB1 in this offense, but his role will be impacted if Fournette comes back. Still, we like RoJo as a solid RB2 this week against the Packers. Green Bay is 25th in aFPA, giving up seven scores to running backs in four games.

TB RB Ronald Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Chicago Bears

The Bucs entered Week 4 with no Leonard Fournette and ended up losing two other running backs in LeSean McCoy (ankle) and Kenjon Barner (suspension). As a result, Ronald Jones saw a career-high 20 carries, and finished with 111 yards on the ground. He was also used as a receiver, seeing a team-high nine targets. Jones struggled as a receiving threat, finishing just 6-17 on those nine targets. Still, it's clear Jones is going to see plenty of volume as the Bucs deal with their running back situation. He gets a somewhat favorable matchup against the Bears this week (No. 21 in aFPA), meaning he should have a solid game. We like him as a strong RB2 play in Week 5.
