Scouting report

by Anthony Stalter

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Meachem vs. Ravens
Robert Meachem failed to catch a pass in his second straight game as the Saints fell to the Bengals last Sunday. It was the third time in four weeks that the Saints didn’t target Meachem, who continues to hold zero value in fantasy formats.

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9: Meachem vs. Panthers
Robert Meachem failed to get on the stat sheet for the fourth consecutive game and wasn't even targeted in the Saints' Week 8 win over the Packers. He has zero fantasy value.

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Meachem vs. Bucs
Robert Meachem was shutout on the stat sheet last week in the Saints' loss to the Cowboys. He's not a reliable fantasy option and should be left on your waiver wire for Week 5. He's currently our No. 100 overall WR for Sunday.

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4: Meachem vs. Cowboys
Robert Meachem caught 1-of-1 targets for 23 yards in the Saints' Week 3 win over the Vikings. He isn't targeted enough to hold value in fantasy leagues and should remain on your waiver wire.

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3: Meachem vs. Vikings
Robert Meachem caught 3-of-5 targets for 37 yards in the Saints' Week 2 loss to the Browns. He was actually the second-leading receiver behind Jimmy Graham, who went off for 10 catches and 118 yards with two touchdowns on 13 targets. Meachem will never post consistent production behind Graham, Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills. In fact, with Stills back, Meachem's role should decrease over these next couple of weeks. Leave him on your waiver wire.

NO WR Robert Meachem - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Morgan vs. Browns
Robert Meachem failed to get on the stat sheet in the Saints' 37-34 loss to the Falcons in Week 1. He's buried on the depth chart behind Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston and rookie Brandin Cooks, and once Kenny Stills returns from his injury Meachem will see even fewer opportunities. He's not a fantasy option.

WR Meachem Robert - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
With Kenny Stills currently dealing with a reoccurring quad injury, Robert Meachem could see time in Sean Payton's offense as a vertical threat. That offers fantasy owners in standard leagues touchdown and yardage potential thanks to the Saints' explosive offense.

Fantasy Downside
Even if Stills misses significant time, Meachem will have a limited impact in fantasy. He simply won't see enough targets to produce on a weekly basis and thus, he'll make for a boom-or-bust option throughout the year.

Bottom Line
Even with Stills bothered by a quad injury, Meachem is undraftable in all fantasy formats this season. Unless the Saints' receiving corps is ravaged further by injuries, we don't even recommend Meachem as a waiver wire option.

Update: The Saints have released Robert Meachem. This could be the end of the road for him.
