Eagles WR2 spot Russell Shepard's to lose

With Jeremy Maclin out for the year, Riley Cooper off somewhere getting help and B.J. Cunningham released with an injury waiver, Russell Shepard has found himself working with the Eagles’ starting offense at wide receiver across from two-time Pro Bowl pick DeSean Jackson.

Running with the starters in August and starting in September are two different things, but Shepard has certainly opened up a lot of eyes going into the preseason opener Friday against the Patriots at the Linc.

Fantasy Impact: 

Shepard is taking advantage of no Maclin or Cooper at camp right now. Arrelious Benn has just returned from injury, but at this point is way behind.

Eagles WR Arrelious Benn could be a starting wide receiver for the Eagles on opening day - or he could be off the roster by then.

It's hard to find a player with as many variables as Benn, the talented 24-year-old wide receiver who was acquired by the Eagles in March. One of HC Chip Kelly's maxims is that "durability is the best ability," which would not seem to be a point to ponder for Benn.

Fantasy Impact: 

With the loss of Jeremy Maclin, and Riley Cooper in trouble for a racial slur, the Eagles WR2 position is wide open. Benn is a former second-round pick who has the size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) and the ability to be a productive NFL receiver, however he hasn't proved to be durable.

Still early, haven't even played games, but QB Michael Vick better since pads went on. Getting the sense that Vick will be starter.

Fantasy Impact: 

Vick has been outperforming Nick Foles daily it seems and McLane is with the team every day. Vick was also one of the first to step out to speak about the Riley Cooper racial slur situation, a sign, perhaps, that he continues to be a leader on the team.

Fantasy Impact: 

With Riley Cooper absent from the team, Johnson is getting work alongside DeSean Jackson. Whomever wins the WR2 job isn't likely going to be an every-week fantasy option in the wake of Jeremy Maclin's injury. Look for the Eagles to run more and/ or use more multi-TE sets.
