Scouting report

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Randy Bullock vs. Indianapolis Colts
Randy Bullock made his ninth FG of the season last Sunday in Dallas. Bullock was good from 29 yards and has only one miss so far this year. The Colts are 14th in the NFL in total points allowed, but with Arian Foster healthy the Texans should be able to move the ball into scoring territory. Randy makes for more of a PK2 on Thursday night, however.

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Randy Bullock vs. Dallas Cowboys
What an impressive performance Randy Bullock put on in the victory over the Bills last Sunday. Bullock was 3-3 on FG attempts, including boots of 55 and 50 yards in the fourth quarter of the tight contest. Randy is 8-9 on FGs this season and is averaging over eight points per game. With a healthier Arian Foster, Houston should be able to move the ball at Dallas, giving Bullock some more scoring opportunities.

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 – Randy Bullock vs. Buffalo Bills
In the loss at the Giants last week, Randy Bullock made his only FG attempt, from 27 yards out, and totaled five points. He is 5-6 on FGs in ’14 and should have a better chance for scoring opportunities at home on Sunday, especially if Arian Foster is back at RB.

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Randy Bullock vs. New York Giants
Randy Bullock was 3-4 on FG attempts last week versus the Raiders and totaled 12 points. Randy’s last attempt, from just 27 yards away, was blocked, spoiling his perfect afternoon. The Giants are allowing 30 points per game, so Bullock should have more scoring chances on Sunday.

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Randy Bullock vs. Oakland Raiders
In the home win over Washington last Sunday, Randy Bullock was successful on his only FG attempt, from 42 yards out, which put the game out of reach in the final two minutes. Houston finished with 316 yards of offense and should be able to move the ball on the Raiders defense on Sunday. However, the Texans are not going to score a lot of points during the season, so it’s advised you look elsewhere for a starting K.

HOU K Randy Bullock - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Randy Bullock vs. Washington Redskins
Randy Bullock got off to a shaky start last season, missing four of his first five FG attempts. However, as the season went on, he found his groove and finished the year making his last 12 FGs. Arian Foster is back, so the Houston offense will be better than it was in ’13, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB, don’t look for any big explosions out of the Texans, which will limit Bullock’s scoring opportunities.

HOU K Randy Bullock - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Randy Bullock very nearly kicked his way out of Houston by missing three of his first four attempts last season. Ironically, the slump came during the Texans’ only two victories of the season. After that, Bullock hit on 25 of his final 31 attempts (80.6 percent) to close out his first healthy season in the NFL.

Fantasy Downside
The leash still isn’t extremely long -- Bullock was just 1-for-5 from beyond 50 yards -- but his only competition entering training camp was Chris Boswell, an undrafted rookie out of Rice.

Bottom Line
Boswell was released in final cutdowns -- perhaps an indication of how close Bullock was to losing his job. Either way, it’s questionable Houston’s offense will provide enough to make Bullock a viable play.
