Packers coach Mike McCarthy: "WR Randall Cobb is going to practice more ... we will up his practice reps on Thursday."

Fantasy Impact: 

Cobb hasn't been officially activated, but it looks like there is a chance he could play if things go well this week. He'll likely be limited in some way in Week 17 if he's active, but it looks like the Packers want to have as many of their weapons as possible for this showdown for the division. Cobb would be a risky fantasy play.

Randall Cobb unlikely to play in Week 16

While WR Randall Cobb wouldn't be any more specific about his timetable than to say he's "taking it day to day," it seems almost certain that he won't be on the field for Sunday's must-win home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cobb, who was eligible to return from injured reserve last week, confirmed that he has not been medically cleared. It's possible that he'll only play in another game this season if the Packers make the playoffs.

Fantasy Impact: 

Fantasy owners who have been stashing Cobb for a possible Week 16 return shouldn't expect him to play this week.

Packers WR Randall Cobb had a strong workout today and a plan for his week will be made on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: 

Silverstein thinks Cobb could practice this week. Even if he is a surprise active this week, he would likely be limited for his first game since Week 6.

Randall Cobb not optimistic about prompt return

While Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb didn’t rule out returning, he isn’t certain his leg injury will allow him to play this season.

During his first interview with reporters since suffering the injury against Baltimore on Oct. 13, Cobb on Wednesday said a mid-December return is a best-case scenario.

“I can’t make that call right now,” Cobb said when asked if he is certain he will play again this season. “Right now, today, I cannot play. I’m doing everything I can. I’m working my butt off in the rehab process. This is something that it needs time. It’s getting better. There’s still no timeline on when I can come back.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Cobb also disputed the report that he broke his fibula, but declined to shed more light on his injury. It doesn't sound as if he'll be useful for fantasy owners in 2013. Consider Week 16 a best-case scenario for Cobb, so he's probably not worth stashing in most leagues.
