Scouting report

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Philadelphia Eagles

Garcon had 5 catches last week but for only 49 yards as the 49ers struggled to get much going. He's in the top-10 in the NFL in targets, so you'd like to see more production. But the Eagles offer a nice matchup with the league's 26th-rated defense against receivers in fantasy points allowed. Garcon is a borderline WR1, even though he has yet to catch a touchdown pass this season.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Pierre Garcon had 5 catches for 55 yards for another decent effort. But he once again failed to score, which is becoming an issue. Garcon has had at least 5 catches in 4-of-6 games, which makes him a decent play as a WR2, especially in PPR leagues. However, the lack of scoring keeps his value down, even against a Dallas defense that has allowed 8 touchdowns to WRs this season.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Washington

Pierre Garcon hauled in a season-high 8 passes for 94 yards last week, though he failed to score for the fifth consecutive game. That could be difficult to do again this week as Washington has given up just 1 touchdown to a wide receiver this season. The 49ers could be forced to throw, however, and Garcon is the clear No. 1 target. He should be a solid start as a WR2 this week.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Indianapolis Colts

Pierre Garcon had an off week, catching just four passes for 37 yards last week against Arizona. That's not surprising as he stepped into the Patrick Peterson zone. Garcon has been the only target worth starting each week in the San Francisco offense. He should bounce back this week against the Colts to at least be worth using as a WR2, particularly in PPR formats against a defense ranked 23rd in points allowed to opposing receivers.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Arizona Cardinals

Pierre Garcon had 7 receptions for 142 yards, showing he is easily the No. 1 option for the 49ers. That could draw him Patrick Peterson in coverage all over the field, especially considering the other options in San Francisco's offense. Garcon will get enough volume to start as a WR3 this week, but he could have some tough sledding if the Cardinals do decide to put Peterson on him.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. L.A. Rams

Pierre Garcon was targeted 5 times last week, catching 3 for 26 yards. That doesn't sound like a lot, but when your offense produces just 99 yards passing, it's significant. He has 15 targets through two games, which is promising. But the Rams have given up only 13 receptions to wide receivers— and one touchdown pass—in their first two games. Don't use Garcon as anything more than a No. 3 receiver this week.

SF WR Pierre Garcon - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Seattle Seahawks

Pierre Garcon got the kind of workload you'd expect, being targeted 10 times. He caught 6 of his targets for 81 yards, all of which were team highs. He has a tough matchup against the Seahawks this week, but if he is that highly targeted again, he should get enough production to be useful as a No. 3 wide receiver option. There really isn't anyone else in the San Francisco passing game worth owning.
