OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Mychal Rivera vs. San Francisco 49ers
After unexpectedly running off three straight impressive performances earlier this season, Mychal Rivera has come back to earth. Against St. Louis in Week 13, Rivera caught just three passes for 21 yards as the Oakland offense failed to produce a single point. If you are still hanging onto Rivera, now would be a good time to drop him as his outlook is once again grim.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Mychal Rivera at St. Louis Rams
Mychal Rivera’s brief run of glory looks to be over. Although the Raiders were able to notch their first victory of the season in Week 12, Rivera caught just one pass for eight yards. With Oakland’s unpredictable passing game, Rivera could get back on track at some point. Nevertheless, at the moment it is much better to view him as a TE2.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Mychal Rivera vs. Kansas City Chiefs
After a recent run of success, Mychal Rivera hit a wall Sunday in San Diego, finishing with three receptions for 40 yards. The off day does not change the fact Rivera has been Derek Carr’s favorite target during the past four games. Unfortunately, Mychal’s upside for this week is capped, as the Chiefs surrender the fewest passing yards per game in the NFL. Nonetheless, if you are in a tight spot, he can be started as a borderline TE1.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Mychal Rivera at San Diego Chargers
Mychal Rivera’s remarkable turnaround continued in Week 10 even though the Raiders looked as pathetic as ever in losing 41-17 to Denver. Rivera hauled in six passes for 64 yards and a garbage time touchdown. In his last three games, Rivera has 21 receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Prosperity can vanish quickly in Oakland, but if you merely need a low-level TE1, Rivera is worthy of a spot in your lineup.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Mychal Rivera vs. Denver Broncos
What has gotten into Mychal Rivera? It was not all that long ago when Rivera looked like one of the worst starting tight ends in the NFL. Then he caught seven passes for 83 yards in Week 8 and followed that up by scoring two touchdowns in Week 9. During that stretch, Rivera was targeted 20 times by Derek Carr. The unexpected emergence moves Mychal into low-end TE1 territory on a week with players such as Antonio Gates and Dwayne Allen on bye.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Mychal Rivera at Seattle Seahawks
Last Sunday in Cleveland, Mychal Rivera actually looked like a capable tight end. He caught seven passes for 83 yards, playing valiantly in a losing cause. We suspect the small trace of momentum Mychal generated will vanish in Seattle.

OAK TE Mychal Rivera - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Mychal Rivera at Cleveland Browns
Mychal Rivera showed improvement in week seven. However, given he did not catch a pass in week six, his poor final stat line of one reception for 18 yards was simply a small step up from rock bottom. He is strong contender for the title of worst starting tight end in the NFL and is completely devoid of fantasy value.
