Scouting report

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New York Giants

Last week we told you Josh Doctson was so close to a breakout, as he had just missed two touchdowns in Week 10. He's a viable FLEX option in Week 12, after a 4-81 line last week on 7 targets. He's also averaging more than 15 yards per reception. Doctson is a big play waiting to happen against a Giants defense that is just 20th in our aFPA vs. WR rankings.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New Orleans Saints

This has the making of a shootout for Washington's offense, as Vegas has placed the second-highest total on this game for Week 11 at 51 points. Despite being underdogs, Washington is still in the top half of implied team totals this week. Plus, Josh Doctson's 4-30-0 (on 7 targets) line last week is deceptive, as he barely missed on two touchdowns. However, CB Marshon Lattimore may cover Doctson, and he's been an absolute eraser in his rookie year. Doctson feels like more of a bench stash given his near misses, ahead of a juicy matchup in Week 12 against the Giants.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Minnesota Vikings

No Washington wideout is a viable fantasy option in Week 10. Josh Doctson may still be a good stash, though, coming off a season-high 89% of snaps and 5 targets. If anybody is going to emerge to have meaningful value down the stretch, it is the former first-rounder Doctson. However, the Vikings have good corners, even if they are just middle of the road in our aFPA vs. WR rankings.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Seattle Seahawks

Despite all the rumblings Washington wants to get Josh Doctson more snaps, it doesn't seem Kirk Cousins trusts him enough yet to be fantasy relevant, evidenced by Doctson's 5 receptions on just 11 targets over the past three games. He belongs on your bench in a tough Seattle matchup.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Josh Doctson is an interesting WR3 flier in Week 8, as he played a season-high 84% of the snaps last week, taking Terelle Pryor's starting spot. He didn't do much with them, but it's obvious they want to get this former first-round pick more involved moving forward. The Cowboys also present a great matchup, ranking 24th in our aFPA vs. WR rankings. This is also the game with the highest over/under of Week 8. You could do worse than Doctson if you are in need of help on a heavy bye week. Just know his floor is low this week.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are 26th in our aFPA vs. WR rankings, but it looks like they will be getting starting corner Ronald Darby back this week. Josh Doctson isn't playing enough to be a fantasy starter, but he makes for an interesting bench stash with Washington's current starting wideouts struggling.

WAS WR Josh Doctson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Josh Doctson will likely only play in 3-WR sets, barring an injury to Terrelle Pryor or Jamison Crowder. In two games last year, the Eagles allowed a horrendous 36.5 and 41.8 PPR points to Washington receivers. DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are gone. So, Doctson could be a beneficiary if Washington can look better than it did in the preseason. However, Doctson is fourth in the Washington pecking order after Pryor, Crowder, and tight end Jordan Reed. You can't start him with any confidence.
