Scouting report

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Dallas
Jordan Matthews caught just two balls for 12 yards on six targets last week. Matthews was targeted 11 times the week before, but only finished with six catches for 27 yards, so Matthews has been a non-factor the last couple of weeks.

This week, Matthews gets the Cowboys, who are 21st in allowing fantasy points to WRs. Matthews has played well against the Cowboys in the past, including an 11-65-1 (14) performance back in Week 8. In his last three games against Dallas, Matthew has 26 total catches for a total of 278 yards and a TD in each of the three games. He's averaged over 11 targets in each of those contests as well.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. New York Giants
Jordan Matthews caught six balls for just 27 yards last week. He was targeted 11 times, but it was a struggle for the passing game for much of the day in a tough matchup.

It doesn't get much easier for Matthews in a Thursday night game with the Giants (who are ninth in allowing fantasy points to WRs), but Matthews falls all the way to 39th on our WR list this week. The good news is Matthews has played pretty well against the Giants, and over his last four games is averaging a line of 6.75-76.5-0.75 (that includes a 6-88-0 line from earlier this season). We have Matthews as a WR4 play this week, and he appears to be a risky start if QB Carson Wentz continues to struggle like he did last week.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Baltimore
Jordan Matthews caught eight balls for 79 yards on 10 targets last week after missing Week 13. Matthews continues to be the top target for QB Carson Wentz, at least at the WR position.

He gets a nice matchup this week against the Ravens, who are 27th in allowing fantasy points to WRs. There are a couple of big issues, however, and as a result, Matthews is just 36th on our WR list (making him a low-end WR3). The Eagles line is likely using a fourth-string right tackle this week, so protecting Wentz and keeping him upright could be an issue. The Birds may also be without RB Darren Sproles, who is key in pass protecting. Start Matthews with caution this week.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Washington
Jordan Matthews didn't play last week against the Bengals after injuring his ankle in Week 12. He's poised to return this week to an offense that really needs him. Matthews is ranked as a WR3 this week in a tough matchup against the Redskins. When these teams met back in Week 6, Matthews caught three balls for 75 yards on seven targets with a couple of drops. The Skins are sixth in allowing fantasy points to WRs but Matthews should be on the receiving end of a lot of targets from QB Carson Wentz, so there is some upside to having Matthews in your lineup as a WR3.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Cincinnati
Jordan Matthews had just four catches for 47 yards last week against the Packers. He was targeted four times and didn't drop a pass. Matthews had to leave the game for a bit with an ankle injury, but did return in the second half and seems good to go for this week.

Matthews comes in 28th on our WR list this week as the Bengals are seventh in allowing fantasy points to WRs. This isn't a great matchup for owners, and Matthews falls as more of a high-end WR3 play this week. That's probably the safest place to play Matthews most weeks. He's certainly capable of out-performing his rank, but is really the team's only threat at WR.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Green Bay
Jordan Matthews caught five balls for 59 yards last week but was targeted 10 times and against suffered from some drops - something that has plagued the entire group of Eagle WRs.

This week, though, Matthews gets a very nice ranking, coming in 12th making him a low-end WR1. He's going against the Packers defense which has struggled over recent weeks and ranks 31st in allowing fantasy points to WRs. This is probably has high as you'll see Matthews on our list this year so owners should take advantage of what is a very friendly matchup. Matthews has averaged 11 targets over the last four games but he's only caught 28 of the 44 total passes.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Seattle
Jordan Matthews had six catches for 73 yards on 10 targets last week. Matthews had two big drops, one of those thrown right to him wide open in the middle of the field. So, not catching the ball continues to be a problem for Matthews, which obviously keeps his fantasy totals in down, too.

Matthews is still the team's top WR and is averaging over eight targets game for the season, but over 11 targets a game over his last three games. So QB Carson Wentz is trying to get him the ball, which is always good to see. Matthews is just 25th on our list this week, which is low-end WR2 or high-end WR3. But, Seattle is fourth in allowing fantasy points to WRs so this isn't a great matchup. However, Matthews should continue to see his share of targets, especially if the Eagles are playing from behind in this game.
