CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Philadelphia
Jerricho Cotchery had another game with modest numbers against the Saints last week, positing 59 yards on two catches, and he was targeted five times. He’s a guy that will get you five points or so each week, but isn’t likely to get you much more than that and has very limited upside. Against the Eagles this week, the Panthers should throw the ball, but I think we’ve seen Cotchery’s cap and he’s a very low-end WR3 in deep leagues at best.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. New Orleans
Jerricho Cotchery had 33 yards on three receptions against Seattle on Sunday as the Panthers struggled to get their passing game going and Carolina suffered its fourth loss on the season. Cotchery was targeted five times, which looks to be about what the veteran is good for each week. He has a little upside this week against the Saints’ struggling pass defense, but Cotchery’s days of being a consistent fantasy producer are long over and owners should leave him at the end of the bench or on waivers.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Seattle

Jerricho Cotchery had three catches for 21 yards against the Packers last week, but he was targeted eight times as he remains a nice security blanket for quarterback Cam Newton.

This week, Cotchery will face a Seattle defense that has come under fire recently, and ranks only 15th in the league in passing yards allowed per game. Expect the Panthers to try to throw the ball on them, giving Cotchery a little more upside than usual. That being said, his ceiling is still probably somewhere between 3-6 catches and 50 yards or so, making him still a low-end fantasy option, probably better left on the bench.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Green Bay
Jerricho Cotchery put up four catches and 58 yards in a tie game against the Bengals last week and he’s had a consistently modest game in most of his outings so far this year. Fantasy owners are likely hoping for more out of the receivers on their roster however, making Cotchery a guy that should probably remain on the waiver wire. If you need 5 points, then Cotchery will be the guy for you. If you need double-digits, you should look elsewhere, even though the Panthers will be throwing a lot against the Packers this weekend.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Cincinnati
Jerricho Cotchery continues to put up modest numbers, as he had three catches and 46 yards against the Bears last week in a Panther win. Expect similar numbers week to week from the veteran Cotchery, who has become a reliable safety valve for quarterback Cam Newton. He runs good routes, but lacks the explosiveness at this point in his career to be a viable fantasy starter.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Chicago

Jerricho Cotchery is kind of picking up where he left off in Pittsburgh. He was targeted seven times last week against the Ravens, catching five balls for 80 yards. He’s not likely to put up big numbers in a given week, but his status as the WR2 in Carolina shouldn’t be challenged much after a nice performance coming back from injury.

Against the Bears this week, Cotchery has some upside, as Chicago has been horrible defensively so far this season and was just torched by the Green Bay passing game. Cotchery is past the days when he put up big numbers or consistent WR2 numbers even, but there’s something to be said for a steady veteran who gets looks. Expect another 40-60 yard outing with limited upside. He’s probably no better than an end of the bench guy, but he’ll get you a few points if you’re desperate.

CAR WR Jerricho Cotchery - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Jerricho Cotchery vs. Pittsburgh
Jerricho Cotchery was looked to often in the Panthers win over the Lions in Week 2, and he wound up with four catches and 46 yards. Those are pretty typical numbers fantasy owners should expect from Cotchery in his role as the veteran route runner on the team. Fantasy owners can have him as a spot starter occasionally, but ultimately he has such little upside that it’s hard to recommend having him on your fantasy roster in most leagues. Cotchery is battling a thigh injury this week and looks unlikely to play.
