CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Jason Avant vs. Seattle
Jason Avant caught two of the five passes thrown his way against the Packers last week but only gained six yards. Avant remains a risky option for fantasy owners to roster as he hasn’t cracked the starting lineup and doesn’t look to be threatening to do so. He’s also still trying to hold off youngsters Philly Brown and Brenton Bersin for WR3 looks. Fantasy owners should keep him on waivers.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Jason Avant vs. Green Bay
Jason Avant seems to have won the WR3 job over Philly Brown, and he caught five passes for 47 yards against the Bengals last week. That’s about the most you can expect from the veteran and former Eagle however, as his role is a sub-package player in Carolina and will likely continue to be so. Avant should remain on waivers in all leagues.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Jason Avant vs. Cincinnati
Jason Avant had two catches on four targets for 42 yards last week against the Bears as the Panthers had a nice comeback win. Avant is still battling with rookie Philly Brown for looks as a sub-package receiver behind Kelvin Benjamin and Jerricho Cotchery, hurting his value. A third/fourth receiver in a struggling offense that features a top level tight end sounds like a player who should remain on waivers.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Jason Avant vs. Chicago
Jason Avant had two catches last week for 24 yards against the Ravens, and he really suffered from the return of Jerricho Cotchery from injury. Cotchery had seven targets, while Avant was splitting looks with rookie Philly Brown. Avant will continue to have to fend off Brown for the WR3 spot on the team and looks to be a guy that should stay on waivers for the time being.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 – Jason Avant vs. Baltimore
Jason Avant looked like he’d developed a bit of a rapport with Cam Newton in Week 2, but last week he only caught two of the six passes thrown his way for 12 yards. Avant will try to improve on that against Baltimore this week, but he’ll be vying with rookie surprise Philly Brown for targets opposite Kelvin Benjamin. Despite the injury to Jerricho Cotchery keeping him out, Avant has very little fantasy upside and should remain on waivers for the time being.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Jason Avant vs. Pittsburgh

Jason Avant was looked for more often by Cam Newton last week than he was by Derek Anderson in Week 1, which makes him an intriguing option to keep an eye on. He finished the Lions game last week with five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

One game does not a season make, but if the Cam love trend continues, then he’ll be worth an add. For now, it’s too soon to make a big deal of his production though, and Avant can stay on waivers.

CAR WR Jason Avant - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Jason Avant vs. Detroit
Jason Avant caught only one pass last week and didn’t gain any yards. He’s the third receiver on a team that likes to run the ball and throw out wide and down the seam to the tight end. While Avant has the potential to improve over last week against a weak Detroit secondary, and he should benefit from the return of Cam Newton from injury, he’s not likely to see enough targets to make him fantasy relevant.
