DET RB Jahmyr Gibbs - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Green Bay Packers

Four straight games with a touchdown for Jahmyr Gibbs and he has 23 catches in that span. The Lions are getting him involved in the offense and they've shown there is plenty of room for both he and David Montgomery to excel. That should continue Thursday against the league's fifth-worst rushing defense in Green Bay, which will be Gibbs' first crack at the Packers as an injury kept him from playing in the first game. No reason to shy away from Gibbs now.

Week 11 vs. Chicago Bears

The Lions are finally letting their first-round pick cook. Jahmyr Gibbs has four touchdowns in his last three games, is nicely involved in the passing game and has been getting more work in the ground game lately. And this is with David Montgomery back (and played well in his return). Detroit has one of, if not the best 1-2 punch at running back now. Gibbs has now worked his way into the top five on our RB PPR board this week in a nice matchup against the Bears.

Week 10 at Los Angeles Chargers

In what will likely be the final game, at least for now, without David Montgomery, the Lions gave Jahmyr Gibbs 26 rushing attempts and he also caught five passes. All he did was total 189 yards on those 31 touches. Montgomery will likely be back this week, but maybe the Lions have figured out that there is plenty of work to go around between Montgomery and Gibbs. Both are RB2 options this week against the Chargers.

Week 8 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Detroit started working Jahmyr Gibbs much more into the offense last week. David Montgomery was out and the Lions lost the game fairly early. Regardless, Gibbs touched the ball 20 times, including nine catches. Montgomery will likely be out again this week, especially with Detroit’s bye in Week 9, so Gibbs will be the man again against the Raiders and is now a strong fantasy play. He may not always get nine catches, but they’ll work him in plenty to warrant quite a bit of PPR value.

Week 7 at Baltimore Ravens

Jahmyr Gibbs is returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him in Week 6. He looks like he’ll return in Week 7 but he’s been mostly a change-of-pace back to this point as a rookie. David Montgomery might be out but the Lions will likely give some of those touches to Craig Reynolds. However, a combination of a bunch of teams on a bye and Gibbs’ fungus ability still make him an RB2 candidate this week against the Ravens.

Week 5 vs. Carolina Panthers

With David Montgomery back, Jahmyr Gibbs went back to being a limited player for the Lions, playing under 40% of the snaps in Week 4 against the Packers and touching the ball 12 times. Montgomery had THIRTY-FOUR TOUCHES in his return from a thigh injury. If that doesn't tell you Detroit's strategy, who knows what will? Gibbs is a fine flex play, but it's now time to temper expectations each week for the rookie as long as Montgomery is healthy.

DET RB Jahmyr Gibbs - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Green Bay Packers

With David Montgomery out, Jahmyr Gibbs saw 17 carries against the Falcons, more than Weeks 1 and 2 combined (14). However, he caught just one pass. Still, he totaled 82 yards in the win. He may be the lead back again. Montgomery remains questionable and the Lions are on a short week, so they may play it safe with Montgomery. That would put Gibbs in line to get most of the work again against the Packers, making him a worthy RB2 slot this week.
