Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer said last week that he’s “definitely” playing against the Broncos after missing the last two Arizona games with a nerve problem in his right shoulder. Coach Bruce Arians sounded a bit less convinced while discussing Palmer’s status on Monday.

Arians said, via Darren Urban of the team’s website, that Wednesday will be the day for Palmer to show that the issue has progressed to the point that he’ll be able to make the necessary throws to start against Denver. Arians added that he had hoped to see more progress from Palmer at this point, which makes his outlook for Sunday even further away from “definite.”

Urban also reported that Palmer wasn’t doing any throwing during the parts of practice open to reporters on Monday. Wednesday should give us a clearer idea if that’s part of the plan to get him healthy or if the shoulder still isn’t letting Palmer do what he needs to do to get back on the field. Drew Stanton would get the start again if Palmer can't go.
