Saints RB Mark Ingram (heel) did not practice Wednesday. The feeling is that Ingram won't play in a terrific matchup against the Rams, so Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas are both looking like strong starts. Chris Ivory could be worked in as well.

Saints running back Mark Ingram suffered a bruised heel late in Sunday’s blowout win over the Colts.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Ingram is day-to-day, icing the heel and taking regular treatment.

There’s a chance he’ll miss Sunday’s visit to St. Louis.

Fantasy Impact: 

Ingram has 329 yards rushing and three touchdowns in his rookie season, sharing touches with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas. Thomas would stand to see a bump in carries should Ingram miss next week's game against the Rams. He could be in store for a big day in what should be a lopsided win.

Here's the breakdown of the reps at each skill position for the Saints in their loss to Green Bay: WR - Colston 67; Meachem 58; Henderson 56; Arrington 1. TE - Graham 57; D.Thomas 29; Brown 5. RB - Sproles 30; P.Thomas 24; Ingram 18. FB - Collins 19; Hall 0.

Fantasy Impact: 

Some interesting notes here... Robert Meachem was second among WRs and should see an increased workload with the loss of Marques Colston. Darren Sproles led all RBs, but the Saints trailed a lot in the game, which is also why Mark Ingram's snaps were limited.

Despite all the attention on Saints Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles, there’s no doubt Pierre Thomas will remain a part of the personality of the Saints offense. Like Ingram, Thomas is a complete and versatile back. He can run inside and outside and also can catch passes.

One of the best things about Payton’s offense is a lot of people are going to touch the ball. That means Thomas will get his chances.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Saints have one heck of committee in their backfield. Pierre Thomas may be a good spot starter. Look for the Vet to get an extra 5-10% of the carries until Ingram finds his way.
