Scouting report

ARI TE Darren Fells - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Chicago

Darren Fells had a nice game at the tight end position against the Saints last week, catching four out of the five passes thrown his way for 82 yards, including a 48-yard reception that showed off a playmaking ability Arizona has been missing at the tight end spot for years.

Fells should maintain his role in the offense, but even with a good matchup against the Bears this week, he’s a risky fantasy start. Once he establishes himself as a consistent target, he may get more consideration, but fantasy owners should be cautious in assuming his Week 1 numbers will translate into a full season of success.

ARI TE Darren Fells - Week 18, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Wildcard Weekend – Darren Fells vs. Carolina

Darren Fells caught two of the three passes thrown his way last week for 39 yards against the 49ers. His role in the offense seems to be expanding and fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on the position and depth chart heading into 2015.

In the meantime, the injuries at quarterback and the still present John Carlson in the starting role limit Fells’ fantasy potential, and we have him ranked outside our top ten, even in a small pool of tight end options available. If you can stay in our top six or so, you’re much better off.

ARI TE Darren Fells - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 – Darren Fells vs. San Francisco
Darren Fells has gotten increased work in recent weeks and he wound up with two catches and 26 yards last week against the Seahawks. However, Fells is still vying with Rob Housler for the backup job at TE behind John Carlson, which doesn’t bode well for his fantasy value. Owners might add Fells in large dynasty leagues as a stash option, but generally speaking, he doesn’t have enough fantasy value to be on a roster.

ARI TE Darren Fells - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 – Darren Fells vs. Seattle
Darren Fells got four targets last week against the Rams and is challenging for the backup tight end spot in Arizona. He only had six yards however, and the Cardinals don’t utilize the TE enough to get too excited, even if Fells somehow managed to wrangle the starting position away from veteran John Carlson. Log his name in your mind for future reference, as the Cardinals have been searching for a long term answer at the position, but there’s no reason to pick him up off waivers at this time, especially facing a top Seattle defense this week.
