Scouting report

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Chargers

Chase Claypool could be back in the lineup after missing the Lions game with a toe injury. Claypool has dealt with a few injuries this season that have gotten his season off track. And going into what could be a very tough matchup against the Chargers, Claypool may be limited during the game. It will be interesting to watch how the Steelers handle Claypool Sunday night in L.A., but for now, consider him a low flex until he shows he can get back to his old self and look recovered from his injury.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Bears

Chase Claypool's hamstring likely lingered on him during last week's game against the Browns, but he still caught four passes for 45 yards. He should be good to go for Monday, as he wasn't even on the injury report on Thursday. He hasn't been fully healthy since before the bye week. Claypool has a chance for a bounceback game against the Bears, our 26th-ranked defense versus opposing wide receivers. But he is also starting to compete for targets with TE Pat Freiermuth, who has been coming on strong as of late, so this should be interesting to watch.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Browns

Chase Claypool is a bit banged up, as he's dealing with a hamstring injury and was limited Wednesday, so keep an eye out on him. But like Diontae Johnson, the Browns are a team Claypool has had recent success against. He had 101 yards and a touchdown on five catches in Week 17 against the Browns last season and then 59 yards and two touchdowns on five catches in the playoffs. If Chase can go, he's a solid WR2. Monitor his practice status this week.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Seahawks

Chase Claypool saw the most targets in Week 5, despite only playing 55% of the snaps. He turned six targets into a 5-130-1 line, with a 59-yard touchdown. He's a bonafide WR2 going forward, especially against a down Seahawks defense, as JuJu Smith-Schuster's injury will break up the logjam among the Steelers WRs. We'll see how Claypool handles the extra attention with JuJu.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Packers

Chase Claypool may get his chance to shine this week. JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) and Diontae Johnson (knee) are banged up. Claypool caught nine passes on 15 targets. For now, the fantasy logjam is broken, as Claypool is a top-20 WR this week with the possibility of both Smith-Schuster and Johnson not being available in Green Bay. It also means Claypool may be seeing a lot of Jaire Alexander.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Bengals

Claypool may be seeing the fewest snaps among the trio of wide receivers, but he's right in the mix in terms of targets. In Week 2, he was second in targets with nine, behind only Diontae Johnson's 12. The downside was he hauled in just three of those nine targets but turned them into 70 yards, including a 52-yard reception. Claypool will have that big-play potential each week. And like the other receivers, comes at a cheap price. He's a fine flex option once again against the Bengals, a team he had two touchdowns against in Week 10 last season.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Raiders

Claypool definitely felt like the third option in Pittsburgh's attack in Week 1. He played the fewest snaps among the three receivers, but still saw 67% of total snaps. He also only saw five targets, compared to 18 total for the other two. Claypool did break out a 25-yard rush, which actually gave him the most total yards among the three receivers. There's still room for all three receivers to have success, so Claypool is still a solid weekly play. Hey, Sammy Watkins had almost 100 yards against the Raiders. Certainly consider Claypool is your flex position.
