Scouting report

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Carson Wentz had another nice game against the Jets last week, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns. It was Wentz’s seventh game – and sixth straight – with multiple touchdown passes and his season TD/Int ratio is an efficient 17/3.

This week, Wentz faces a Jaguars defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. It should be a great matchup for Wentz, catapulting him into QB1 and high-end streaming territory. We have him just inside our top-10 this week.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New York Jets

Carson Wentz had 231 yards, three touchdowns, and two picks in a shootout with the Titans last week. Wentz also added 11 yards on the ground. It was Wentz’s first interception since Week 2, and was also his first game over 40 pass attempts (51). The Colts will likely try to keep those attempts down, but it was good to see him toss three touchdowns to help compensate for the turnovers.

This week, Wentz faces a Jets defense that ranks 24th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. It’s a great matchup and a nice opportunity for the Colts to return to efficiency ball, where Wentz has been successful this season. He’s a decent streaming option or superflex option and we have him ranked just outside of QB1 territory.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Tennessee Titans

Carson Wentz had 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a win over the 49ers last week. He also added 23 yards and a touchdown on the ground, turning in a nice overall fantasy performance. In two straight victories, Wentz’s pass attempts were under 30 – a recipe I think the Colts would like to continue.

This week, Wentz faces a Titans defense that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Expect another quality outing from Wentz with limited upside but a nice floor. He’s been pretty efficient this season, which should allow him to put up fringe QB1 numbers in a nice matchup. He’s a good streaming option.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers

Carson Wentz had 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a lopsided victory over the Texans last week. Wentz didn’t turn the ball over, but he completed just 55% of his passes, down from his season total of 64.2%. Wentz has been tough to bank on, but with nine touchdowns and only one interception, he’s managed to play his way to 16th in fantasy points among quarterbacks this season.

This week, Wentz faces a surprisingly vulnerable 49ers defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Expect another solid outing without much flash, putting him firmly in QB2 territory. That matches his production thus far and seems to be where fantasy managers can slot him moving forward.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Houston Texans

Carson Wentz had a nice game against the Ravens last week, throwing for 402 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a narrow loss. Wentz has seven touchdowns and just one interception so far this season, and is completing 65.3% of his passes, giving him upside in good matchups.

This week, Wentz has a nice matchup against a Texans defense that ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. He doesn’t offer enough rushing production or get enough big plays to warrant QB1 status, but we have him ranked in QB2 territory and fantasy managers needing help in 2QB or SuperFlex formats should consider him a decent fill-in option in a nice matchup.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Baltimore Ravens

Carson Wentz had 228 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Dolphins last week, which feels like the ceiling for him. The Colts want to run the ball – Wentz had 32 pass attempts – and Wentz offers little upside as a rusher. This week, Wentz has a tough matchup against a Ravens defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Sit him, and leave him on waivers in 1QB leagues.

IND QB Carson Wentz - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Miami Dolphins

Carson Wentz gutted out a pair of sprained ankles against the Titans last week, but was limited to just 194 yards on 37 pass attempts. Wentz doesn’t look healthy and the Colts’ offense is struggling, so fantasy managers should steer clear of this situation. That goes double if Wentz misses time and managers try to get cute by buying Jacob Eason or Brett Hundley. Hold off and leave all the Colts’ quarterbacks on waivers.
