Browns QB Brandon Weeden commented on WR Josh Gordon:

"He’s a guy, he did a lot of that at Baylor. He has an ability to run past guys. He’s a long guy who is a huge mismatch, especially on safeties. He can do some things there. It’s a great asset for us. He’s come a long way, he’s continuing to get more and more comfortable and grow each week. It’s huge for us. He’s a huge asset for us and we need him to continue to grow and play the way he has been."

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said in a conference call with Twin Cities reporters that QB Robert Griffin III was cleared to practice on Wednesday -- three days after leaving a loss to Atlanta with what the team termed a mild concussion.

Shanahan cautioned that Griffin remains under evaluation and the Redskins won't know his status for certain until Friday. But his speedy return to the field is a strong indication Griffin will be ready for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Fantasy Impact:

It certainly appears that Griffin is on track to play in Week 6. His owners should have a backup plan in place, just in case. The Redskins play in the second round of games on Sunday. Christian Ponder, Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, Kevin Kolb, Matt Hasselbeck and Brandon Weeden should all post serviceable numbers this week.

Through four games, Browns WR Josh Gordon has looked lost at times. He has been targeted 14 times and has seven catches for 93 yards. He has at least two drops. Gordon has had trouble escaping jams at the line of scrimmage, does not “sell” his routes well enough, rounds them off too many times, and so far hasn’t played to his premier size (6-3 and 225 pounds).

“With each game, I feel more comfortable from seeing different teams, different defenses,” Gordon said. “I don’t really feel as much as a rookie any more. I’m more familiar with it.

“With the reps I’ve been given, I feel I’ve been open but it’s not been the primary read. They have plays designed for me and I feel going into the next week and future games we’ll see a lot more of it.”

The Browns have fast-tracked Gordon to this point. It’s time to make him Brandon Weeden’s first read and throw him the ball. What exactly do they have to lose?

It was exciting to hear QB Brandon Weeden say after the game, “I think where (Josh Gordon has) come from Day One to where he is now, I think he’s come the most of anyone on this football team. I’m really happy with Josh.”

“I’ve seen huge improvement,” said coach Pat Shurmur. “I’ve mentioned this, the steady climb theory. Early on, he had to get himself in playing shape. He had to learn the offense. He had to get used to the quarterbacks that were throwing to him. He had to get used to being coached.

“I think I have turned the corner,” Gordon said. “Coaches have been getting on me about the way I practice. So I took that to heart to make sure I keep on getting consistent work at practice to get consistently better. I feel it’s benefitted me a lot by listening to them.”

Fantasy Impact:

Gordon is worth a late round flier at this point, but the Cleveland passing game isn't going to scare anyone right now.
