Seahawks trade for Bills RB Marshawn Lynch

The Seattle Seahawks have traded for Bills RB Marshawn Lynch for a 4th round pick in 2011 and a conditional 2012 pick.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Seahawks bolster their run game in a somewhat surprising move this afternoon. Most were speculating Lynch to the Packers or Eagles, but Seattle stepped up with an offer. Obviously not content with Justin Forsett as their feature back, Lynch should take over that role with Justin Forsett handling 3rd down duties. Leon Washington is being used primarily in the return game.

The Seahawks have released Julius Jones and it appears Green Bay will stick with Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn. In Buffalo, C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson are moving back into flex territory.

Packers Mike McCarthy said that John Kuhn would not necessarily move into the No. 1 halfback position even though he had a strong performance late in the game and finished with nine carries for 39 yards. Brandon Jackson remains the starter because Kuhn has to play fullback at times, too.

"I don’t view it as No. 1 and No. 2," McCarthy said.

Green Bay has to do something at running back, and I think the organization recognizes it. It knows it can't rely on Brandon Jackson as its workhorse from now through the playoffs, assuming it makes them. Green Bay will continue looking for a trade, and Lynch makes as much sense as anybody. But the problem is, teams have been trying to pry away Marshawn Lynch since the off-season and so far, Buffalo hasn't budged.

Per Packers Coach Mike McCarthty:

What's the definition of a run game? We went in to the game with a specific run plan. I felt the running backs were productive. Brandn and John played well with the opportunities they were given. They played us a certain way... The number of attempts is not always the most important factor. I thought the run production was a positive. Would not be smart to run Brandon Jackson or John Kuhn 25 times a game anyway.
